Meh, we gave this place a second chance and came away unimpressed. The loaded queso is good. We prefer queso blanco but they have yellow as well, and the loaded extras were great. Chips were a little oily, but the second batch came out better. Salsa is good too. Tequila lime chicken was recommended by the server claiming it won taste of Garland. A little char on the chicken was good and I did like the glaze but needed more of it. I was not a fan of the squash/carrot veggie mix. The rice and black beans were bland. It has potential, but it wasn’t quite there. Wife had shrimp enchiladas and was also unimpressed. The poblano sauce was ok, but there didn’t seem to be anything in the tortillas other than unseasoned shrimp. Just tasted like something was missing. The elotes has an interesting bbq flavor. No cream, very little cheese, not spicy. It presented well but I wouldn’t have guessed elotes if you hadn’t told me that’s what it was supposed to be. Took a sip out of the sangria and it was awful. Extremely bitter somehow. Server was pleasant but seemed to have too many tables. Saturday night should have the A team. Overall disappointing. Queso wasn’t enough to save it and it wasn’t cheap enough to overlook the lack of interesting flavor. Not sure we would come back.

UPDATE 1.16.23 I'm impressed with the new menu options (updated menu pics provide). Lots of pescatarian/vegan option. Only one bean side dish has meat. Love, love, LOVE that there are so many dishes that offer veggie or shrimp instead of meat or boring cheese. I love that I can sub grilled veggies for rice & beans. They have really brought the A-game. Looking fwd to eating my way thru the options. Oh, what the hell is a "stacked enchiladas"? Never heard of this. Intrigued. UPDATE SINCE NEW OWNERSHIP: Looking fwd to more true pescatarian options. Several of their sauces {unfortunately} have chicken broth, even the rice. Super sweet owners. He spoke w\ me for some time about the menu & plans. I was saddened to taste the poblano soup was different. Still good, just was better before. PREVIOUS OWNER REVIEW: Have been several times and quite enjoy their food. Margarita was less than average.

Ever since we learned that new owners had taken over the business, we have been hearing great things. I am on a low carb diet, so I have to be very careful about what I order. Last night I ordered a Chicken Fajita Bowl with special instructions as to the extra toppings I wanted in it. When I picked up my order to take home and enjoy I discovered that the take out box had more food then you can get in a burrito bowl at Chipotle. They also sent a bag of chips and salsa which I was not expecting for a pick up order. I have a swallowing problem because of my Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy so I have to puree most of my food including this wonderful meal. It was exactly what I was expecting and it had all the important vegetables and protein that I need for my diet. My son and I both enjoyed the chips and salsa. Lots of flavors. I will order from here instead of Chipotle again.

Called to ensure they could accommodate 12 for a staff lunch. Mgr assured me they could. Arrived at the expected time and it took another 15 minutes to have the table ready. 2 in our party had to leave sooner so they ordered earlier than the rest of us. The rest of us ordered about 10 minutes later. After 40 minutes no food had come out. We asked that the 2 early orders be put in to-go containers so those 2 weren’t even able to eat at the table and had to take theirs to-go. While we all waited, 3 tables of customers came and went AFTER our order was placed. The 3rd dish finally came out. 5 minutes later the 4th dish came out. 5 minutes later the 5th dish came out. So continued this 5 minute delay between dishes and bringing out only ONE dish. The 9th and 10th dishes (last ones) came out together. ALL but 2 dinners came out ONE AT A TIME. Meanwhile, we were not asked if we needed anything (most of us needed chips/salsa and drink refills). I had to get the manager to ask how the food was coming along and to get drink refills after sitting there 40 minutes. Nobody came to check on us or update us about our orders. I usually give great reviews and it takes several things to go amiss before I post anything negative. I and am VERY patient with staff in restaurants but this time it’s different. Although the waitress was nice, the manager didn’t seem to go out of her way to put us at ease, check if our orders were okay, etc. We were disappointed in the overall service and seemingly lack of concern from the ‘top’. The food is ‘average’ Tex Mex so with ‘average’ food, a restaurant really needs to step it up with the service and unfortunately Dos Banderas fell flat. There are way too many great Tex Mex ‘hole in the walls’ with exceptional food and service to waste time at Dos Banderos. But if you want very average Tex Mex food and don’t care about efficient service, give it a try. As for me and my peeps, we won’t be back...

We were fortunate enough to get a $10 voucher from the city during a Karaoke event at the main square. We went to Dos Banderas and all of the food was great, but it would be nice to have at least one plant based option in the appetizer section as the voucher was only for the openers section supposedly. My husband and I eat only plants and there were no plant options. We asked if we could get guacamole instead and pay any difference and the waitress said no. Should have spoken to the owner....which we did (but not about that), but we ate the wings on the menu anyway. The next day we had acid reflux from the wings...that is the whole reason we eat only plants because eating animal products is not pleasant for our bodies or our health. I think the city paid for the $10 voucher anyway, so it would not have been a loss from Dos Banderas.

Food: We had the guacamole, beans, and the cilantro lime wings. That was very filling and tasty that night.

Service: Waitress was friendly and patient while we were looking at the menu.

Atmosphere: Beautifully remodeled. If there was any music while eating it was low so as to enjoy talking to people you are eating with.

Recommendation for owner: Please see if you can add a vegan option on the openers section without animal products at all...cheese or meat or at least if a customer asks if they can substitute something and it is available on the menu, please help your customer out through your waiters. Our meal at Dos Banderas would have been much more pleasant and memorable the next day (acid reflux...

When we first came in there was no hostess present and once a waiter came to help we hardly got acknowledged which was fine, it’s not his job but a little unsettling. Once we sat down, we asked for waters and for whatever reason our child didn’t get one until we requested it. We asked for a bowl of queso and she offered a white one or yellow one, we picked white bc that’s what brought us to the location. I wasn’t informed that one would be spicy and the other not, when I asked to swap it out the waitress (not originally ours) gave such a dumb founded look as if it were a bother. I also asked if the consistency was the same bc the white queso was very thin, she said they were the same but the yellow one was thankfully thicker. The table behind us on the other hand had the original waiter that sat us and received a perfect explanation about both queso’s and it just seemed like they got better service than my family. The beef fajitas were delicious, the kids quesadilla was perfect, and the chimichanga even though small was delicious. Aside from poor service and bad queso, the visit was okay. I never leave bad tips but I did today and honestly felt like she didn’t even deserve the few dollars I left. The dirty looks in between each experience also didn’t help. The fact that no one cared about the experience either is alarming. Maybe we just didn’t look like their usual customers. We will never be back and never recommend to...
