Called to ensure they could accommodate 12 for a staff lunch. Mgr assured me they could. Arrived at the expected time and it took another 15 minutes to have the table ready. 2 in our party had to leave sooner so they ordered earlier than the rest of us. The rest of us ordered about 10 minutes later. After 40 minutes no food had come out. We asked that the 2 early orders be put in to-go containers so those 2 weren’t even able to eat at the table and had to take theirs to-go. While we all waited, 3 tables of customers came and went AFTER our order was placed. The 3rd dish finally came out. 5 minutes later the 4th dish came out. 5 minutes later the 5th dish came out. So continued this 5 minute delay between dishes and bringing out only ONE dish. The 9th and 10th dishes (last ones) came out together. ALL but 2 dinners came out ONE AT A TIME. Meanwhile, we were not asked if we needed anything (most of us needed chips/salsa and drink refills). I had to get the manager to ask how the food was coming along and to get drink refills after sitting there 40 minutes. Nobody came to check on us or update us about our orders. I usually give great reviews and it takes several things to go amiss before I post anything negative. I and am VERY patient with staff in restaurants but this time it’s different. Although the waitress was nice, the manager didn’t seem to go out of her way to put us at ease, check if our orders were okay, etc. We were disappointed in the overall service and seemingly lack of concern from the ‘top’. The food is ‘average’ Tex Mex so with ‘average’ food, a restaurant really needs to step it up with the service and unfortunately Dos Banderas fell flat. There are way too many great Tex Mex ‘hole in the walls’ with exceptional food and service to waste time at Dos Banderos. But if you want very average Tex Mex food and don’t care about efficient service, give it a try. As for me and my peeps, we won’t be back...
Read moreWe were fortunate enough to get a $10 voucher from the city during a Karaoke event at the main square. We went to Dos Banderas and all of the food was great, but it would be nice to have at least one plant based option in the appetizer section as the voucher was only for the openers section supposedly. My husband and I eat only plants and there were no plant options. We asked if we could get guacamole instead and pay any difference and the waitress said no. Should have spoken to the owner....which we did (but not about that), but we ate the wings on the menu anyway. The next day we had acid reflux from the wings...that is the whole reason we eat only plants because eating animal products is not pleasant for our bodies or our health. I think the city paid for the $10 voucher anyway, so it would not have been a loss from Dos Banderas.
Food: We had the guacamole, beans, and the cilantro lime wings. That was very filling and tasty that night.
Service: Waitress was friendly and patient while we were looking at the menu.
Atmosphere: Beautifully remodeled. If there was any music while eating it was low so as to enjoy talking to people you are eating with.
Recommendation for owner: Please see if you can add a vegan option on the openers section without animal products at all...cheese or meat or at least if a customer asks if they can substitute something and it is available on the menu, please help your customer out through your waiters. Our meal at Dos Banderas would have been much more pleasant and memorable the next day (acid reflux...
Read moreWhen we first came in there was no hostess present and once a waiter came to help we hardly got acknowledged which was fine, it’s not his job but a little unsettling. Once we sat down, we asked for waters and for whatever reason our child didn’t get one until we requested it. We asked for a bowl of queso and she offered a white one or yellow one, we picked white bc that’s what brought us to the location. I wasn’t informed that one would be spicy and the other not, when I asked to swap it out the waitress (not originally ours) gave such a dumb founded look as if it were a bother. I also asked if the consistency was the same bc the white queso was very thin, she said they were the same but the yellow one was thankfully thicker. The table behind us on the other hand had the original waiter that sat us and received a perfect explanation about both queso’s and it just seemed like they got better service than my family. The beef fajitas were delicious, the kids quesadilla was perfect, and the chimichanga even though small was delicious. Aside from poor service and bad queso, the visit was okay. I never leave bad tips but I did today and honestly felt like she didn’t even deserve the few dollars I left. The dirty looks in between each experience also didn’t help. The fact that no one cared about the experience either is alarming. Maybe we just didn’t look like their usual customers. We will never be back and never recommend to...
