I've been a frequent patron of Rosalind until very recently. My latest experience is a perfect example of how poorly trained, unpleasant, and uninvested staff will indeed redirect would-be regulars to the competition.
The coffee here at Rosalind is average. The same can be said of current staff's coffee knowledge. Some more knowledgeable than others. The saving grace was the customer service of two baristas on staff. Unfortunately, those two can't be at the shop all of the time. That means that the other baristas - and the manager, who are all sorely lacking in the skill needed to connect and affect, are left to wreak havoc on the hard fought relationships won by the great customer service of the two stellar baristas.
A recent incident where the opening barista called out sick, and the shop opened 45 minutes late sealed the deal for me. The barista who who eventually did open the shop didn't let the small crowd of regulars in to settle while she readied the store. Nope! In fact, she said nothing - not even a grunt. Rather, she opened the door, let herself in, and coldly shut the door in our faces.
After I called and requested that she let us in, given that we'd already been waiting for 55 minutes by then, she said that she would need to check with her manager...who was already inside! She then hung up on me. After repeated calls, she did open the door and let us in after I assured her that we would not order until she was ready. She said that they had been having a really bad morning because the opener was sick. Wow!
I then played host for a half hour, explaining to entering customers that while they could sit, the shop wouldn't be ready for orders for another 30 minutes.
At one point, the barista interrupted me and shouted to the guests that she would be ready in about five minutes. I presumed that my host services were no longer needed, and I waited quietly while incoming customers queued at the front. 15 minutes later, the barista was still working on opening. I'd seen and had enough by then. I walked out of the shop and headed to a competing shop.
I will not be back to Rosalind Coffee...at least for a little while. That...

Read moreI have been coming to this establishment for the past 3 weeks . At first, it was a great experience , as I almost always order a brown sugar iced latte with almond milk, or I order the blueberry danish. I have never had an issue with working here, as I am a business owner that helps small businesses get grants and sometimes like to work outside of my house, and the staff is always nice which is why I opted for this place over Starbucks .
Until today. This morning I opted out of buying breakfast or coffee as I wanted to wait till lunch to order something this go around. As I quietly, took a corner seat to begin to work, it had only been an hour, before who I now know is the manager, approached me and stated that I can’t use their WiFi if I don’t purchase something . I then let Aldo, the manager know that I never use their WiFi bc I have a personal hotspot. He then said I still need to order something if I’m going to be here . Mind you, the place isn’t packed and there are open seats available so I’m not taking any seating away from anyone that’s there.
I politely waited until he was done speaking with a customer before I approached him asking about this rule that I have never heard of since I had been coming there .
He further states that I have been here long enough to order something and that I should just come into an establishment and not buy from them bc they are a business. I explained to him that I have never been approached in the three weeks of coming and was never informed of this “policy” I then asked is this a policy/ rule and he proceeds to say it isn’t , but it’s what he wants .
I will not be back to...
