Myself and our usually 7-10 family members that usually catch our family birthday meals together have eaten here like 4-5 times now. The first two times were actually quite impressive! The 3rd was still relatively great. The last time we hoped it was just an off day. Today, there were definitely a few issues that made the family say we would look somewhere else in the future for a birthday meal.
I will say, that the desserts are still pretty AWESOME DESSERTS! 🍨 🧁! I don’t even usually like pie, but every dessert I have tried a bite of there has been pretty delicious when it comes to the dessert for sure.
I will also say, I am not a drinker, but the Sunrise, like fizzy drink I had, was incredible! I will see if I can figure out what it was for sure, so you aren’t wondering what I am even talking about. 🤣😉 Incredible with a cherry on top!!!
However, BEFORE, all of the food was incredible too and they were FAST! We all commented on it!!! We were actually raving about the service and speed the first couple of times (over maybe two, 2.5 years)?
Today, however, there were several groups of people standing at the front waiting for tables. I finally went and asked another lady what we needed to do to get on “THE LIST”. The woman asked another girl, who had been standing right there the whole time, where the list was. She was like, I don’t know. She was busy having a full blown conversation with some guy, so much so that I didn’t realize she even worked there. 😒 Then she stood around with a lost look on her face and a pad and pen. They added each of the groups who had been standing around before we came in 5-7 minutes before that? Okay mistakes happen and we all eventually were seated, a few fairly quickly as there were a handful of open tables by that point.
When the food was coming out, a few of the meals were called by other meals names, which lead to some confusion and some of the order was confused, which might be the best way to describe it? Items were swapped, the bread was buttered but not toasted and it lead to a lively debate over which of the breads were actually sourdough or plain “toast”. I mean an actual debate occurred if there was any difference between the plain “toast” and the sourdough “toast”. Neither were actually toasted at all.
The Gyro meat, I was a bit disappointed in. I love Gyro meat especially lamb. This left me pause because it is really more formed meat. It didn’t taste bad, but didn’t feel really fresh and desirable as it felt like it sliced off of a meat preformed brick? It didn’t taste bad, it just made me really question it. These are just a few things that made me drop their overall score as a score should be based off of the SUM of the overall experience.
I would be interested in trying it again in the future, but I am NOT sure I could talk everyone into going back again to give it another shot. The family has already been discussing trying to look for another place for birthday meals in the future. Bummer
Maybe if we go back, it will just be for a brunch drink and a slice of dessert. 😂😇 Hopefully, they will work on these handful of issues so they get better reviews in the future. I think all of these concerns could be fixed with just a...
Read moreI stopped here on a whim for lunch. The staff was friendly enough and I was seated fairly quickly. My food came out pretty quick and was hot.
I'm quite surprised to see the reviews are so high, but I'm only basing this off my experience with their food which might be a bit slanted since it's my first time dining here, but obviously first impressions are important.
I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak and fries. The fries were very hot and crispy, but had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. Maybe they want to allow the customer the option to choose how much or if they want seasoning I don't know.
Now I don't consider myself a Philly Cheesesteak connoisseur, but I've had a few here and there that have been pretty good and the one from Judy's was by far the worst I've had. The way the steak is sliced is similar to a roast beef sandwich. I feel like if you're going to serve a Philly Cheesesteak the meat should be chopped (and well seasoned) or sliced smaller and thin but similar to how fajita meat is cut, not the shaved type of slices my sandwich had. Also, it wouldn't hurt to season the veggies as well.
I would also recommend having different options for seasonings(Tony Chachere) condiments(Louisiana hot sauce) on the table and maybe they do but I wasn't offered any so I'm not sure. Now if this Philly Cheesesteak was seasoned then I would really consider changing up the seasoning or how it's cooked...just...
Read moreWe loved this place. Hubby said the burger was fantastic. It tasted freshly grilled and had the right amount of char and the bread reminded him of potato bread, but fluffir. He said he hasn't had pie this good since the last time he was back in Maryland.
I had the turkey & bacon club. It was good. Just a regular club sandwich. I was feeling basic. ^_^ They had a lot of stuff that looked really tempting, tho. I want to try that burger, for sure. They have a descent variety, and the staff was really nice.
I am usually really hard to please regarding restaurant onion rings and mozzarella sticks disclaimer. The onion rings were amazing. Piping hot and the breading was so well done, but not burnt, and the onion inside was still intact (you have no idea how often they basically melt away in the frier). lol The mozarella sticks were okay. Not my thing, I think too bland and flour tasting in the breading. Let hubby eat all but half of one. lol He liked them.
Our server recommended the coconut cream pie, and it was delicious. Hubs had the pumpkin pie cream pie. He said he wants to make it a regular stop.
Hubs got the Super burger. They make really large patties that look kind of thin on the standard ones, but I haven't tried them, so just wanted to throw that out there for anyone who LIKES burgers. If you can eat 1/2 lb, get it....
