To start, this restaurant is NOT participating in COVID-19 Precautions. Other restaurants that we have visited had all the servers, bartenders, managers, hosts and hostesses, in masks and gloves and had a capacity limit with families seated at every other table to avoid close contact. The only precaution this restaurant was notably taking was the fact that they were not handing out food menus, however; they are still giving out drink menus. Otherwise, business has resumed as normal. We understand going out during this time is at our own risk, however; we can appreciate a restaurant that wants to keep its staff and customers safe. When we were asking one of our servers questions in regards to the menu, he kept reaching over the table to point out what he was describing on the drink menu and speaking over our already food and drinks. I had to grab the food and move it out of his way and he still wasn't picking up the hint. We actually really love this restaurant, specifically for the patio view, However; today was so less than our usual service and dining experience.
Furthermore; The host allowed us to pick our seating outside because there wasn't very many people out there to begin with. We chose a table closest to the water and quickly realized how relentless the birds were while trying to find crumbs that were left behind on either plates or just the ground. We moved back and I noticed how rude our server responded to the change. She seemed irritated and in a rush. She told us it was going to be that way with all of the seating options outside, no matter where we were. She had white nails with a little rainbow painted on some of them, a hat and jean shorts.
When we asked for a menu she told us we were supposed to take a picture of it at the front, as they were not giving any out during the pandemic. We were not instructed to do that so she went and got one, held it in front of us as we took the picture then asked "got it?" We replied "yes" and she walked away without any further question or instruction. Our whole experience with her went this way. She came back to see if we had made up our minds on what we wanted to eat and right as I started to shake my head and say "no" she walked away not knowing one of us was actually ready to order a drink.
We were finally able to order frozen "swirl" margaritas, sipped on those for a while and noticed that they were extremely watered down and had a juice like consistency. A male server walked up to our table and squatted at eye level. He told us that our original server was leaving for the day and he was going to take over. Being a former server myself, I know that the appropriate thing to do would've been for her to walk him over, introduce him as our new server and explain she was done for the day and transfer the table. This was not done and it was obvious why, because she had some sort of issue from the start.
Anyway, our new server was great! He was kind and knowledgeable about the menu. He was able to suggest the quesadillas, as I was torn between two options. Our food came out and neither of us were enjoying our selection. The street tacos were made with corn tortillas and they were extremely soggy and falling apart. The meat they used had no flavor or seasoning added and it was only saved by the lime that is provided. The quesadillas were bland and cold, also very tough. The chicken was quite over done and very dry.
When our new server came to check on us, we let him know that the food was not even subpar, but that it was actually quite gross and not up to standard. He told us he would find us a manager and have him right out so that we could discuss the issue. When the manager came out, he asked us specifics in regards to what was wrong with the order. When we each explained why we were not loving the food, he then explained that he never had anyone complain about the two selections and that this was a first for him. I did not care for this response as my expectations are not the same as every one else's who have also tried the food here. VERY...
Read moreMy family and I have visited Primo’s a hand full of times over the years. But it’s been a while since our last visit. Either traffic or just time not being in our favor to stop by always seemed to be in the cards. But yesterday, we were in the area and decided to stop by. It was my wife, my youngest son, and I. It must have been the time we got there that was good, because we were immediately seated. Our son wanted to sit outside in order to see the view of the lake. So that’s were we went. Our waitress came by and got our drink order and give us our menus. As we were looking a young man stopped by with our chips and salsa. For me, when I do a review of a Tex-Mex ( or Mexican) restaurant, the absolute first thing I gauge my experience on is the chips and salsa. As we were looking at the menu, I dive right into the chips and salsa. Now you may think differently, but I was not impressed. To be honest, it tasted like tomato sauce with peppers and onions thrown in with a little black pepper. The chips were not up to par as well. Not crisp and borderline stale. Now to the actual meal. My wife orders the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce and my son gets the mini corn dogs and fries. My wife loved hers as well as the rice and charro beans that came with it. My son ate his as well. Though you can’t really mess his up since the mini corn dogs and fries are most likely premade and all you need to do is throw them in the fryer. I always like to try new things on the menu when I visit a place that I’ve been before. Who knows when something will become your new favorite. I decided on the Primos Burrito. The description on the menu sounded great, but it was the photo of the finished product that sealed the deal. The waitress asked if I wanted chicken, beef, or brisket. I choose brisket because there’s nothing better than a good tex-mex brisket with all those wonderful flavors. When it arrives, it looks sooo good. I first tasted the tomatillo sauce, GREAT!! I cut into it and tasted the brisket. Super BUMMED on that. Though it was really tasty, it didn’t taste like brisket at all. It tasted like pot roast. IDK how else to describe it. Like I said, it was good. It just didn’t taste how I expected it to taste. So even though the salsa was not great and the “brisket” was not what I would call brisket, the meal as a whole warranted the star rating I gave. The meal was great and the waitress was wonderful. Maybe your experience will be different, maybe it will be the same. But I do recommend finding out...
Read moreActually ZERO stars- I ordered two meals the same that came with black beans. The waitress asked if black beans were OK. I said yes. When the food was brought out one plate had pinto beans. I told the person bringing the food that they were both supposed to have black beans. He went back to the kitchen to get black beans. The waitress brought the plate out and very firmly set it down in front of my sister and said, This is yours!" Well that was the wrong move for me. I said oh no that is not hers both plates were to be exactly the same you even said where black beans okay and I said yes. My sister was on the phone when I was ordering and at the time that the waitress put the plate down in front of her and didn't even really know what was going on. The waitress proceeded to argue with me. I said excuse me what happened to customer service 101A wherein the customer is always right? I certainly know how we ordered our food. She leaned over the table toward me and was pointing her finger at me saying she wasn't going to allow me to talk to her that way. I turned to find the name waiter that was also waiting on us. I told him to get her away from us. She finally left saying under her breath, "Jesus Christ!" Noone came to our table to find out what was going on or to try to make it right. I stopped the male waiter as he was trying to avoid us and told him to make sure she doesn't come back to our table. He leaned into me and said, "That's my wife." My response was so and she needs to learn customer service skills. He said he send a new waitress. The new waitress wouldn't even look at me or acknowledge me. We never got black beans for my sister. We finished and the waitress brought the bill and tried handing it to my boyfriend he pushed it toward me. You see the joke was in them as I was the one paying. It was a $100 bill with no discount provided for the staff's bad behavior. I would have normally tipped $25 but their tip was a big fat ZERO with a line through it for emphasis. Even when walking out no management asked what had happened. This was absolutely inexcusable behavior and we will...
