Rice House Express — Restaurant in Garland

I was so excited to see that Rice Box Express had a new location here! My first encounter with Rice Box Express was in Glenn Heights, TX about 3 years ago. The most amazing fried rice I have ever tasted! Their featured item is the "Chris Fried Rice". It contains chicken, beef, pork and shrimp in addition to peas carrots, cabbage, onion and egg. Of course is choose any or all of these, as well as your "spice level" (mild, mild-medium, medium or hot). I like it with all ingredients & HOT, but I love spicy foods! They also serve 12 different appetizers, 2 soups (I love the Hot & Sour) and 13 other entrees. I'm sure all the entrees are good, but I'm hooked on the Chris Fried Rice so I've never tried the others. Now that they have this location that's on a path I travel 2 -3 times a week, I will have to try some other items. But it's hard to pass up the Chris Fried Rice! Did I mention how much I like the Chris Fried Rice? I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great Chinese food at a reasonable price, and super nice people who work there. Tell Aaron, the owner, Thom recommended that you give them a try...and by all means get the Chris Fried Rice!

Well, I finally decided to try something else besides the Chris Fried Rice. It was a hard decision, but I had to do it. For as long as I can remember when I went to a Chinese restaurant I would always order Kung Pau chicken. This was my favorite dish because it was a spicy dish. So I ordered their Kung Pau chicken along with a pork egg roll and an order of fried dumplings. Both of the sides were wonderful! As for the Kung Pau chicken, it was AMAZING! Normally, I always get extra cups of the spicy oil sauce to make sure it's spicy enough to make my head sweat. This time I didn't need it! It had a nice heat just the way it was served. My hat is off to Rice Box Express! They know how to cook excellent Chinese food! You can't go wrong here. Now if I can convince them to open a place in Irving, life...

I’ve ordered from here plenty of times and I ALWAYS get the same thing, making tonight no different. I do not eat meat so I always order the Chris fried rice with shrimp, tonight I decided I just want the rice and I always add cabbage. The rice is simply amazing, however tonight I ordered the same as I always do and I get home and it’s not only meat but steak, chicken AND PORK in the rice which is “standard procedure”. Never have I had this. For $16.00 you’d think I would not want to waste my money on rice with meat let alone pork. I called back and the cashier sees my previous orders which have all been the same… and obviously it’s my fault I did not specify. So basically I wasted $16 on rice that I had to throw away. No matter how good this is definitely my last time EVER going back. Not because it was meat because but because nothing was done to even attempt to correct it. Not even “half off the next just, but at least now you know for future reference”. Customer Service is so dead. So let this be your lesson when you order if you are vegetarian or pescatarian. They can verify you have the right location but don’t specify or make you aware that the rice has not just meat but pork in it as well. For the price you think they would....

Update/Edit: Same as the update below they don't do extra spice levels anymore BUT more recently they've changed their recipe and the spiciest option is now close to on par with the 6-8x extra spicy I used to order. I feel like this is a fair compromise and I'm very happy to see this change!

Update: Still really good food, but they stopped allowing you to order extra spicy on top of the normal spice levels. I really enjoyed that about this establishment and regularly ordered 6-8x extra spicy. Now I can't get the heat levels hot enough for me even with adding additional heat when I get home.

The Chris Fried Rice is some of the best I've ever had. Their homemade shrimp egg rolls are also quite tasty. Customer service is always great, but the thing I like the most about this place is they'll make your food as spicy as you want it, with what seems to have no limit. I love spicy food and no restaurant ever hits my spicy limit, but this one will! Try an 6-8x extra spicy sometime for those that love heat. They don't mess around here! Haha. I'd also like to add that for a fast food place, their food quality is above average. Keep up the good work Rice House Express!...
