RANCHER'S — Restaurant in Gatesville

The only restaurant I’ve ever been to that leaves metal skewers in their filet mignon. I had almost finished eating when I saw it. I asked the waitress about it because I thought maybe it had been accidentally sent out that way. And she said no, that’s how they send them out and that other customers have expressed concerns as well. It’s a safety hazard to have sharp pieces of metal hidden inside food that you are serving to customers without even advising them of it. I messaged the restaurant of my concerns and received no response. I will change my review if/when they address my concerns.

update * I have updated my rating as the business did finally at least respond to my concerns. I understand that you may have served thousands with no issues, but, I believe the potential for injury is there as I didn’t even know the pin was left in until my steak was almost gone. And the waitress did tell me other customers had also voiced their concerns as well. So I am definitely not the only one. I appreciate you reviewing your policy as it would only take a small amount of effort to remove the metal pin or at least advise customers that it’s there. Just because something hasn’t happened in over a thousand times, doesn’t mean it can’t or won’t. Anyway, I have upped my rating based on the business response. I hope common sense will rule over pride. If I had a business and something I was doing was something that could injure someone, and someone brought it to my attention, I would definitely take their concerns...

It was mid-morning and breakfast orders were the norm but I wanted to take catfish home for lunch. Waitress said no problem and took my order. Around 30 minutes later she brought my order out. The place was not crowded at all. I over heard they were short staffed but as I said ... not crowded. When she took my money (to the unknown) to pay and bring me my change, (which took another 5 minutes), the bills in change were there but not the six cents in change. Granted it was only SIX CENTS but I had already given here a two dollar tip for a to go order. If she/they were to keep anything under ten cents in change from every customer (IF) then I am sorry but that would add up throughout the whole day from every customer. So customer service I could do without. Took the food home for lunch and the fish was very good. Also had grilled vegetables they were oh so very very good and crispy tatter tots that were top of the line. The tarter sauce was not anything like any tarter sauce that I have ever had. It was terrible on top of terrible. Not the first time I've had their fish and the horrible tarter sauce, then was the same no way tarter sauce that it was this time. If you go and order the catfish and want tarter sauce, if nothing else -...

Atmosphere was ok. At first the guy next to us was loud and boisterous annoying using profanity alot and not caring who he was offending or bothering 🙄. Now ik the staff can't control that so no dings on them. But after that table left everything was awesome. The food was ofnthe best quality as you see we both had chicken fried steak. Those mashed potatoes were so good I didn't even want to soil them with the gravy. The gravy was so good I dipped everything in it because it.seemed a shame to pour it all out on stuff. The chicken fried steaksni had were very large and tasted great. The mac and cheese just needed a lil bit of salt (but ik u can't season like your at home) and it was spot on. And if that wasn't enough you had an unlimited trip to their salad bar which had so much great stuff on it that honestly all that for 21.95 Is way better than any other deal tou will get any where else. My Mother had the small chicken fried steak. So she had the same as I but one of her sides were fried okra. She said best she'd had in a while. Plus the unlimited salad bar for 16.95. Folks your not going to find food this good and for this value any where else. Y'all need to go check these folks out. Run dont walk! Beat me there Dont...
