Tonight, my husband and I tried a new place—Pizza King—completely on a whim. We had no idea it even existed until we walked out of Walmart, got in the car, and I happened to glance across the shopping center. I saw the sign and said, “Let’s give that place a shot!”
From the outside, it’s easy to miss, but once we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. The decor matched the vibe: super relaxed, a little cozy, and clearly a place where people come to unwind. Patrons were chatting with each other across tables—it had that small-town, family-friendly energy that I love.
There was a seat yourself sign up front, though a waitress moved it as we walked in. I wasn’t sure what that meant anymore, so I asked and she let us know that we could sit at any table, just not the booths (totally fine!). She even brought over a high chair for our little one right away, though we quickly found out it was broken—thankfully, there was another nearby that worked.
The menu is surprisingly affordable, especially considering how good the food was. I ordered the Crabby Flatbread—basically a crab dip spread over flatbread with Chesapeake seasoning—for only $10.99. It was so good. I also got a $2.50 side salad, which came in a teeny tiny bowl—so small that there was no way to add dressing without it overflowing. I ended up dumping it into my food basket to make it work. (They meant “side salad” in the most literal way. 😂👌🏼)
The kids’ menu was great too—tons of options, and the first place I’ve seen that actually offers Goldfish crackers as a side. Genius.
Now for the only downside: service was slow. There were only two servers working the entire (pretty packed) restaurant, and it definitely showed. That said, our waitress was sweet, bubbly, and kept a great attitude the whole time. She really made the experience better just by being kind and checking in with us when she could. We had to wait a while for the check and box at the end, and our 16-month-old was definitely done by that point (cue the screeches), but we made it through.
Heads up: you pay at the register, not at your table.
All in all, it was a really chill spot with better food than expected and a kind staff doing their best under pressure. I’d go back—maybe just not when the...
Read moreSeating host seemed like was busy talking to others in the restaurant and not really doing his job. Our waitress was good though. They said they were out of crab right now so I could not get the crab quesadilla. They were also out of wings. (Must be a shortage due to high prices on wholesale level - July 2021). The waitress couldn't really suggest sometime she likes instead of the quesadilla. I got a pizza steak. It was good but it was noticeably salty! Bread was fantastic and seemed mostly full of meat. The taco salad had a great fried shell but the beef filling was quite bland without any taco seasoning or anything. There was sour cream and salsa to actually make it seem like a taco salad at least. Prices were fair. Both items were only $18.50 overall with leftovers to take home in nice clear plastic containers. I recommend not looking at the carpeting at all. It looks like it's never been scrubbed since the place either opened or was last renovated. The booths have moveable tables to accommodate larger bellied guests but the seats are a bit high and many customers' feet don't touch the floor when they are seated. Pizza looks good and fries on other tables too. There's both crinkle cut and shore fries. Love the posted menu for bottled and canned alcohol showing their alcohol content - with a wide selection available, including seasonal beer. Appreciated that the cashier took her time and explained the menu well to a call in customer before cashing me out. She waited on me before taking another order from a woman who immediately stepped in front of me when coming in after me. Cashier even made change to tip the waitress easier which was nice. Overall a good experience with good food. Recommend it! Just don't dwell on the dirty carpeting. They need...
Read moreLet me set the scene. I walked into Pizza King expecting a good meal. What I got was a life-altering experience that transcended time, space, and the very limits of culinary excellence.
The moment I entered, the air smelled like dreams, melted cheese, and destiny. And then—she appeared. Abby. Not just a server. Not just an employee. No, dear reader. Abby was an experience. A radiant, pizza-slinging goddess of hospitality whose mere presence could calm storms and cure Monday blues.
From the first moment she greeted our table, it was clear: this woman was born to serve… legendary vibes. Her smile? Brighter than a thousand suns. Her knowledge of the menu? Encyclopedic. Her timing? Impeccable—like she could see into the future and knew the exact moment my soul needed another breadstick.
The pizza? Divine. The crust was crisped to golden perfection, cheese flowing like molten velvet, toppings as fresh as a spring morning. Each bite felt like being hugged by an Italian grandmother you never knew you needed. But even the ambrosia of Pizza King pales in comparison to the shining star that is Abby.
She didn’t just refill my drink—she refilled my faith in humanity. She didn’t just check on us—she checked in with our souls. When she brought extra ranch without us asking, an angel earned its wings.
Abby isn’t just the best server at Pizza King. Abby might be the best human to ever wear an apron.
If you’re not dining at Pizza King under the benevolent care of Queen Abby, you’re not really living. 12/10. Nobel Peace Prize nominee worthy. Someone build this...
