Today, for the first time, I visited Veduka South Indian Cuisine, formerly known as Mayuri Indian Grill, in Alpharetta. The place looks newly renovated, with seating for over 50 people and a banquet hall that can accommodate another 30+. Todayâs special was a delightful array of South Indian dishes, including Appam, Idiyappam, Pal Appam with Veggie Stew, Coconut Milk, and some chicken and egg side dishes. They have a special buffet every Wednesday, and you can always order from the Ă la carte menu, which offers a wide variety of dishes. They also have a minibar, adding to the variety of their offerings.
First, the Buffet: The Appam was made live and served hot. It tasted good, and I didnât have to wait long. The Idiyappam was also on the buffet and tasted good, but too many pieces were kept in the buffet tray, causing them to stick together and making it hard to take individual pieces. The side dish for the Appam, the stew, had a good taste, but it was supposed to have Kala-channa, which was missing.
A la carte menu: We ordered Ghee Dosa (which tasted good), Garlic Naan, and malai kofta. The naan was very chewy and too oily, but the kofta was excellent. We also ordered gobi manchurian, which was a little below average. It lacked full flavor, and the gobi was too crispy for some reason as if it had been taken out of the freezer.
The new management is still settling in and learning the process of seating guests, helping them with table arrangements, getting water, and taking orders. It seemed like everyone was doing everything, but this will be streamlined soon. This potential for improvement in the service gives hope for a better dining experience in the future.
Despite the current challenges, I see great potential in Veduka South Indian Cuisine. With its unique offerings and commitment to improvement, I am optimistic about its future. I look forward to revisiting in the next 2-3 months, hoping to see more organization and improved...
Read moreThis is the first time we have ordered food from here and we pleasantly surprised of how good it was. We ordered our food to pick up through doordash and as soon as we put it in 5 minutes later it showed that out order was ready to pick up. It was a little pricey but for the amount they gave us for each dish was great. When we walked into the place I wasn't really impressed. The buffet was very small and there were only 2 other customers in the restaurant. However when we got there the cooks were in the kitchen preparing the food still. We waited for about only 5 minutes before we were greeted and another 5 minutes before we got our food which was prepared hot and packaged correctly.
Before we left the owner came out and told us about their specials and how they are always changing it up and introducing more food to their menu. He also told us about their website and how it would be prepared faster if we ordered through that. He was very nice.
When we got home we unpacked what we ordered - $2.99 for 1 piece of garlic naan, $11.99 for a pint of butter chicken, $2.99 for a glass of mango lassi and an order of veg biryani for $10.99. In all it came out to $29.89. The naan was fluffy and crunchy - made just right. The butter chicken was a little spicy but great. The mango lassi was exactly what I was looking for except that it was a bit too sweet. The veg biryani filled with onions, spices, cauliflower and other veggies and was exactly like he like my husband except for the cauliflower.
The ordering process was easy but I wish they included a side with their curries and that they could have indicated how spicy you wanted each dish.
If you are looking to eat some great north and south indian food look no further...
Read moreHorrible experience... firstly there is no consistency in the food or quantity... secondly the staff is rude and non welcoming... I ordered a family order with couple of curries, biryani etc. a day later we ran out of naan... so I called an ordered two portion Malabar Parathas so that the kids can finish the paneer curry... and it was for a pick up...
To my shock... the guy started scrutinizing and asking for details about by previous delivery order... when I provided the details... he said he cannot locate the order... then he said call door dash and get this added to your original order... I said but this is a new order and I will pick up... so why are you scrutinizing so much?
Then I realized... that since this was a small order... he was trying to be over smart and make me feel ashamed...
I asked his name he did not give me his name(clearly he knew he had done something horrible)... then he started apologizing... But I canceled my 'small' order anyways... and vowed not to order from this restaurant every again...
Very disrespectful... this is by no means a good Indian restaurant... Madras Chettinaad is 10 times better and they are humble and welcoming...
These guys are street class... today you order a delivery for 200$... but if after two days you order a small order... they will try to humiliate and...
