It hurts me to write this review, it really does. I love pizza and had very high expectations for FIVE BOROUGHS PIZZA TAVERN because they are located in Cumming and I get excited when we have new food places open up in our area. Let's start off with the good first. It's a nice location with a very nice set up! You can sit inside or out and it all looks very neat and clean. I later realized I didn't take pictures of the place as I normally do... I think my mind was elsewhere. When we walked in no one was available to greet us so we waited for a quick second until we made eye contact with a young lady that came over to sit us down. Our waiter was very friendly and courteous but unfortunately didn't get back to us to check and see what we wanted to drink and eat for a good 5-7 minutes. We noticed they were not understaffed, we saw a lot of waiters and waitresses walking around the kitchen and around the ordering area so it wasn't a "we are busy and understaffed" situation going on, just preoccupied elsewhere. I am a very patient person when it comes to these type of things so although I noticed it, it didn't bother me or ruin the mood. The menu we were handed didn't have any appetizers on there so we thought "what a bummer... we wanted some garlic knots or something to try before the main meal" but quickly moved on to ordering our meals. At the end when we were paying we heard the table next to us order some garlic knots and mozzarella sticks... apparently their lunch menu didn't show the full menu? My wife ordered LEMON PEPPER WINGS with FRENCH FRIES and I ordered a medium BRONX PIZZA which comes with pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham and bacon. Presentation for the wings and pizza both looked great but unfortunately that was about it. The LEMON PEPPER WINGS didn't taste like anything, just regular no flavor wings. The ranch itself was delicious but way too runny so it would drip onto you if you didn't eat your wing with enough speed. The fries, although good, were $3 so we expected a bit more than just a "handful" of fries on a side plate. My BRONX PIZZA had a good crust and thin layer but would not hold itself together very well without all of its ingredients falling off right away. I do have to say that the individual ingredients like the, sausage, ham, ground beef and bacon were VERY tasty, kudos to FIVE BOROUGHS for having some of the best tasting ingredients I've tasted off of a pizza. The pepperoni was also good but not if you had just one bite of it, they are cut too thin so you can't taste the pepperoni unless you have several in one bite. We were not given side plates so we had to eat the pizza off the tin pan it came on which ended up being eaten out of with my fork and knife since everything would slide off the pizza itself. One last thing about the pizza is the consistency, one slice would have all the meats and the other slice would maybe have a few bacon pieces with a sausage or two with pepperoni. Everyone knows how much I love COCA-COLA and a pizza without a cold and refreshing coke is no pizza experience so when I spend considerable time with an empty glass I get a bit grumpy... Our server eventually came out and refilled our drinks. I see they have very good reviews on the online platforms so I hope they have gotten better!!! Roli's Rating: Service: 4/10, Friendly staff but the little things that can make it a more pleasant experience are just not there. Things like checking to see how you're doing or if you need a refill, asking how everything is looking or if anything else is needed and not taking a long time to bring out the check once they notice you are done with your food could bring this rating up Price: 3/10, My medium pizza was $17. 8 wings cost us $10 along with the $3 fries. I simply expect way better at this price point Location and Parking: 9/10, Great location about a mile down the road off exit 14 on 400. Parking doesn't seem to be an issue as there are plenty of spots to park in since there are other businesses in the same lot Cleanliness: 10/10, The place...
Read moreI love this place. It has become a 'Cheers' type of environment. The staff is amazing. OMG try the new soups they offer! I did however noticed a one-star review from a guy claiming discrimination – I witnessed the WHOLE thing right up until he was poured into an uber so let’s set the record straight shall we. Well Danny I was there and in the words of Phill Collins “I saw what you did. I saw it with my own two eyes” So before you believe the drunken ramble of a complete jerk and the staff of who he and his group treated with a complete lack of manners – including throwing limes at the bartender, let someone who was there and has no clue who this guy is tell you what REALLY happened. At the end of the night (as in roughly 20 mins before closing) a very drunk wedding party had the audacity to come in WITH THEIR OWN ALCOHOL in a plastic lemonade jug. Yes Danny, I saw it myself. They were politely told they couldn’t drink it. So, they did order Moscow mules where he has claimed they spent $300 – They spent $160 for 8 people as in EIGHT people – So Danny lets tell the WHOLE truth shall we. They proceeded to sit in a booth that had a phone and a vape pen on the table that belonged to employees that were cleaning up for the night. They still choose to sit. When asked where the phone and vape were they claimed no one had seen them. Understandably, the people of whom the items belonged to were highly upset. This argument went on for a while. While this group was obnoxious and rude to the staff, I witnessed this group treated far fairer than I thought they should have been. After 20 or so mins or so they returned a very warm vape. As of when I left, I don’t know if the phone was returned but I did see how rudely the staff was treated by you Danny, and your drunk friends. Right up until your uber...
Read moreWanted to take the wife out for dinner since we had family in town to watch our kids. We both have been wanting to check out the Boroughs since it opened and have seen raving reviews. We went out for a early dinner (5pm) we were seated quickly. We started off with cocktails which arrived in a decent amount of time, however, the glasses were dirty (lipstick and finger prints from a previous use present). We Ordered a appetizer of crab cakes, waitress came back 8-10 min later telling us they are out of crab cakes (again it’s only 5pm). Kinda early to run out of food on a Friday night. So we decided to go with the caprese salad which arrived very fast. The plate of salad that arrived was undesirable for the price point I paid for. There was maybe 4-5 plum tomato cut up with basil and vinaigrette covering the plate. The fresh mozzarella was hardly covering the ratio of tomatoes ( maybe 5-6 1/2” mozzarella balls on the salad. $8 dollars is a bit steep for a platter of fresh tomatoes with a small amount of mozzarella. The pizza also arrived very quickly, it looked very delicious. Sadly once we plated our pizza it lacked. We ordered the Battery... We await the fresh chicken, bacon and jalapeño with our mouths watering. Again it was not up to our expectations for the reviews we have read. The chicken tasted packaged and was under expectation. Other outlooks on customer service was sad. A group of ladies came in and sat a table next to us, they were served promptly. One of the ladies accidentally spilled a drink on the table and no one helped them clean up that table. It seemed like the staff was to busy or lacked the empathy to go help the lady’s clean the table. I don’t think we will be coming back to this establishment...
