I had lunch here a few days ago. It wasn’t too bad. The BBQ isn’t my taste and that’s fine, some people like different flavors and styles. I give them 4 stars as the place was clean and they have a 100 health score as of writing this. It’s a very small place. You go in and I believe there’s two long common seat benches on the right and a couple two seat tables. So you will probably be eating side by side with other people. They have a couple small tables outside also. They have a self serve drink machine and tea area. My wife and I had the two meat plate. I wish we had stopped by earlier as they serve what they have till they run out. It’s clearly posted on their web site and I believe in the article in the FCN which drew me here. If you come here I would be there at opening. The meat is heavier on smoke than what I like, but some people like that. Also the chicken is off the bone served loose. The brisket had more fat than I would like. Sides available were almost out so I got the beans and chips. The plate portions are normal plus I guess. Some people made it sound like they give you half a chicken and brisket lol. It’s not that much. The cost for two meats, sides and two drinks was $46 so a little on the higher side. I wish them the best. The owner seems real nice and I hope...

After about 3 yrs I finally made the 2 hrs drive.

Employees greeted us and were helpful. Even the guy boh welcomed us and was kind.

The space is super small and can be tricky to find a seat. Even during “slow” times it’s tough to get 4seats in a group.

As for the important part, the food, it left alot to be desired. The sausage (garlic pepper) was super dry and leathery. Was absolutely sliced a few hours earlier then put back in the hotbox for holding. Possibly from the day before.

The Cole slaw was an absolute miss. No salt, sugar, or acidity. I added salt from the table but it was just too bland. I asked to swap it for corn which they did. Sadly the corn… idk the corn was just off overall and not enjoyable.

The beans and mac & cheese were decent. Easily the best thing we had but still not over the top.

The brisket was moist but also under seasoned, which seems like a trend here. It also was warm at best, but far from hot. While I like the point (fatty side) I generally like a more well trimmed fat cap. Which it did not seem like they trimmed much if any fat off the top during prep. Solid half inch plus of fat cap still on the slices.

With adjusting seasoning and food temps this place has potential. Unfortunately it was a miss...

1st visit. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of fire cooked cream corn and a brisket sandwich with a side of cowboy beans. They are open for lunch until 2 or until sold out and they do sell out based on the quality. I loved the pork sandwich. The bun was great and the pork moist, juicy, tender, and piled high. I much prefer this presentation versus a large piece of bread and a flat sandwich. The sauce was served on the side and was perfect. A small amount of onion also on the side which I added for some crunch and zest. Delicious. The brisket was sliced thickly (two large pieces) also very tender, juicy and perfectly cooked. They were both great the pulled pork was my favorite if I had to choose. The sides were a grand slam addition. Never had cowboy beans and wow what a treat. Seemed like three or more varieties of baked beans, barbecued meat mixed in along with onion and other ingredients that made me wide-eyed from the first bite. The corn was the bomb as well. They were sold out of the ribs and mac and cheese and a few other things because I went right after they won best of Forsyth and it was busy. I’ll be back. Definitely my go to place...

Tucked away in a very unassuming corner of Cumming is one of the most fabulous bbq restaurants in the south. I’ve rarely expect much of restaurants like this because as noted on many of my reviews, I am a dedicated bbq snob of the highest order. However my socks were literally blown off by Socks Love. The pork sandwich was exactly how a pork sandwich should be - smoky, moist and piled high. Also, because snob, I rarely do more than taste the bbq sauce. Socks Love sauce is tangy, smoky and just a touch of sweet. Perfect! The brisket deserves a review of its own. As well cooked as any brisket this side of Houston, my slice only ensured that I’ll be back for a whole plate. The sides we tried were great too. The country slaw was delectable, the okra better than your great grandmother’s and the pickles - for all that’s sacred in food, the pickles were legendary with their briny taste and firm texture. Can’t wait to go back and see the owner Crazy Kay and get more brisket!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while based off of all the good reviews. I really wanted to like it :-( I went with a friend and we both tried two meat platter. Both meats were tepid at best. I was surprised at the portions; my thought was there was going to be more meat, other than one slice of brisket however, it was a thick slice. The pulled pork appeared to be overdone and the main part of the brisket was very dry. The fat side of the brisket was moist. I think the best part of the meal were the sides. I had the beans, and my friend have the chili. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will return. I really wanted to like this place! Total bill for 2 was over $40.
