If I could give 0 stars I would. We were really excited to try this place after our hike. We brought a party of 10 with us. Everything started out great, we came at a pretty slow time, 3:45 pm, we were seated and this lady dropped off some chips and salsa right away. After waiting for 20 min I went to the front to ask where our server was as we had not even been greeted by them. 10 more minutes passed, nothing, we went in again, they assured us they would be coming. Another 10 min passed and after seeing two young women chatting and not dealing with any customers we expressed that no one has even come to greet us or take our drink order. Finally, this one young thin blonde girl came out rolling her eyes asking what we wanted to drink. We ordered some waters for the kids and before we even had a chance to order any margaritas and drinks for the adults she was already turning to go back inside. We stopped her and asked if we could complete our drink order and put in our food order since we had been waiting a ridiculously long time and had a bunch of hungry kids on our hands. The server threw her hands up and said, Woah I'm not ready for all of that yet I'll be back." I stood up and let her know that would not be necessary as we would be leaving and have never experienced such poor service. I have worked in the food and beverage industry for many years growing up and I have never actually left a restaurant because I know everyone gets busy and is short-staffed at the moment; but this was unacceptable, no one even had the curtosy to greet us or let us know they were behind, also, it was 3:45 in the afternoon, the place was dead, and the waitress was overwhelmed and stressed with a water order. Maybe it was just the server but unfortunately the experience for us at Fuego was very...
Read moreMy Uncle and I ate here today and something very out of the ordinary occurred. The food was good and everything. But when we were ready to leave we sat there for quite a while and could not locate our server Caroline. My uncle finally tracked her down and told her that we had been waiting and could not find her. Anyway, we forgot all about it. Despite her forgetting about us, we didn’t really think anything about it because my uncle and I have both waited tables before. So we ALWAYS tip. Even on mediocre or bad service. Where it got weird is when she dropped off the check she said “Wish I could say it’s been a pleasure” and stormed off. We looked at each other wondering if that really just happened. Bewildered as we were, we assumed she was having a bad day but didn’t leave a tip because of that comment. That was the first time in his life my uncle has never left a tip. I’ve never not left a tip either but if I’d been paying I can’t even say I would have left one after that one. And I’ve seen a lot. Then as we were leaving she yelled to thr top of her lungs “HAVE A NICE DAY!!!” Then as we were approaching our car in the parking lot she chased us down and screamed “HEY!!! Do you wanna speak to my manager?” And we were just like uh…no. The whole encounter just completely blew my mind. I worked in restaurants for years and I know servers get mad and there’s a lot of bad customers. But at the end of the day, if you can’t learn to bite your tongue and smile then serving is not for you. Even with the bad service we still would have tipped. The blatant comments at us were the only reason we didn’t tip and I’ll probably never go back...
Read moreIf I could give Fuego less than a One Star review, I would. We normally go to a Mexican restaurant in town. We wanted something different and have had good food and service at Fuego in the past, so we decided to dine there. It is a 30 minute drive for us. We arrived at 5:45 and were seated fairly quickly. After about 10 minutes, chips and salsa were delivered to our table. No water was delivered and we were not asked for our drink order. We waited until 6:10 (25 minutes later) for someone . . .anyone to come and at least take our drink order. No one ever came to our table. We decided to leave and go somewhere else. I'm not sure we will be returning again.
UPDATE . . . We decided to try Fuego again. The service was better but the food was just ok and overpriced. I specifically asked about the a la carte burrito for $8. Our waitress answered my question and I ordered that. I ordered a chicken burrito. I received a lukewarm beef burrito and was charged $16. I will say that they reduced the charge, but still feel overcharged at $8. It just wasn't worth it. My husband ordered a side of avocado and was charged for guacamole $3.50. He got may be a quarter of an avocado. I suppose they are catering to Big Canoe and can over charge. I know prices are higher, but if you want some good Tex-Mex at a reasonable price check out El Roble or Pueblo in Jasper. The food is better and...
