Stood at the front for several minutes (Sunday 11/2 @4:39 pm) while a taller server walked up to the hostess stand at least 3 times without so much as a smile, nod, or "someone will be with you soon." We smiled at her, but didn't stare, as I know that just because someone passes you doesn't mean they are available to help you at that exact time and/or the one who is ultimately supposed to help you.
Hostess with awesome green hair came up (we hoped that at least the girl up front went and told her someone was there) - she was very kind and sat us. Waited 5 minutes for someone to come to our table (and suspected that the girl who approached the hostess stand and ignored us when we came in was supposed to be our server and begged off. We worried that perhaps she was having a rough day or was working many tables alone, but then she took on several new tables right after us with smiles and a positive demeanor that differed from the stone-faced avoidance we'd seen).
The young Black server we got was kind, personable, patient, and apologetic for the wait. I have ordered Mellow Mushroom from 2 other locations in the same county both for my family personally as well as for an office of 100 employees over the years since 2005 because the ingredients and crust are well-chosen and prepared, and the service is usually good. Having never been to this location, I'd hoped for the same standards. While, again, the hostess and the young woman who actually waited on us were good, what we experienced upon walking in was worrying. Where I failed as a customer is that we were meeting 2 others here and we should've gotten their orders beforehand so that our server could turn over the table quicker. I apologize for this oversight on my end.
I generally tip 40-50% of the total including tax and sometimes 100% for above and beyond service like a stellar drink/food recommendation, or our server suggesting something that saves me money and I usually add what I saved in the tip (though my husband paid this time, so I guess that's a moot point) and if there are any discounts/coupons, I tip at the previous total before the discount. I also have poor feelings and disappointed words towards anyone who treats a service worker any less than kind in my presence, yet it feels horrible when a server decides you are not worthy of the same basic level of consideration despite no previous interaction. I understand that no one owes me a smile, and sometimes social batteries run low/customers can be high maintenance, purposefully messy, or rude. I don't want or need special treatment, I would simply like the same level of service and kindness as anyone else that walks in. It's simply a hard enough world to live in without someone choosing to make a customer feel less than without the customer being any of those negative types of customers mentioned above.

My family and I only went to this location because we wanted to play trivia with Outspoken Entertainment. I informed the hostess of this when we arrived since there was a wait. She asked us whether we wanted to sit on the patio or inside. Then she said that there weren't likely any seats out there anyway now so it would be quicker to sit inside since we wanted to play trivia. We sat down inside about 15 min later just in time for trivia and waited. When I asked our server if they were indeed doing trivia she says that they were but only on the patio. We were asked if we wanted to move but the game had already started. We decided not to play but still wanted to eat dinner. So after our drinks arrived we placed our order which was only 4 sandwiches and small order of wings. After 40 min of only drinks I asked our server if our appetizer of 5 wings would be ready soon. She looked surprised that we would expect some food or an explanation after 40 min but then replied that the cooks actually had to make wings from"scratch" instead of using the pre-heated ones they ran out of. I told her we were about to leave but she says our order was up right then. We waited a few more minutes just to see but of course...no food arrived. When we got up to leave, not one hostess or server said anything or offered anything. In fact, one of them even turned away when she saw us get up so she could pretend she didn't see us. We are not hard to please people but I have never felt so ignored. If the manager had had come out( if there was one) or even some acknowledgement had been made by the server that there was an issue, we wouldn't have left, especially with our two hungry children. We most certainly would have left off the wings if that was the holdup. Four sandwiches shouldn't take 40+ min to be served. Read moreOkay... here it goes. I arrive at the Mellow Mushroom in Kennesaw around 3:30pm on a Sunday. There may have been - at the most - 8 customers in the place who were already served. I place a to-go order for their large house pizza + 5 wings. So far, so good. I sit for 20 minutes and then go up to the counter to ask about how much longer for my order to be finished. The kid hands me my wings and says it will be a few more minutes on the pizza. Okay, no problem. 20 minutes later, my pizza is still not done. Now mind you, nobody is working in the kitchen. They are all just talking and goofing off... about 6-8 of them. I sit another 10 minutes waiting and then go back up to the counter, where the kids completely ignore me at the counter. Finally, one of them comes up to me and asks me what I want. I tell them I am waiting on pizza and they turn around and find my pizza sitting on the counter and hand it to me. When I arrive home, not only are the wings bone cold, but so is the pizza. And not only is this pizza the absolute worse I have ever eaten, so was the service. I can only let the manager know that I won't be coming back and certainly won't recommend this establishment to anyone. Why did I add a tip to the bill???!!! Ugh.
