I was scrolling around Uber eats seeing the utterly ridiculous costs for ordering lunch when I saw the Hoagie Bros. I was about to place the order when I noticed it was fairly close to where I lived. Wanting to save a couple bucks on delivery, I went and drove to the spot myself. I was friendly greeted by the Hoagie expert and looked at the menu. I already knew I what I was going to order, but for the sake of curiosity, I was looking around to see what all they had.
The one thing that did peak my curiosity was the soup of the day. Unfortunately nothing stated what the soup was, but the soup of the day generally is a great indicator for quality and freshness of restaurants. I inquired what it was, in which the Hoagie specialist informed me that it was tomato basil soup. Now to stop myself on going on a rant, I happen to be fairly picky on tomato basil soup, so I decided to give it a shot. Considering the price, I was ready to be extremely critical.
I ordered the ultimate sloppy joe on wheat with Chipotle Gouda(Boars Head special) with the soup of the day(Tomato Basil).
The Hoagie Authority, as friendly as one could expect a skilled Hoagie crafter could be, quickly began to manufacture my order. After a few minutes of awkward silence, he had my order ready to which I filed payment shortly after. He handed me a cup and said "the drink is on me, it's very hot today" which was a nice gesture. I put a dollar bill in the tip cup, which was unfortunately all I could muster up considering I only had 1 dollar in cash. It's the 21st century, only drug dealers, strippers and servers carry cash.
I headed home with haste as the smell of the Hoagie wafted in my car tantalizing my already hungry stomach. Once home, I unwrapped the hoagie. As one would expect, it's just a sandwich, I have no clue why you're expecting a detailed analysis of a sandwich. I digress.
The food:
Pretty good I'd say. You get your money's worth for sure. The soup tasted fresh, not too tomato-ee and creamy. There were no acidic after taste that you would expect with lower grade tomato basil soup. It was mild, not too heavy and perfect to go with a sandwich.
The sandwich itself was solid too. The bread was nice and chewy, but not too chewy. Good amount of moisture, but the crust was nice. The contents was definitely a good sloppy joe. A hint of mustard and savory ground beef. I do wish it was a bit more sloppy, but the quality made up for it.
I'll definitely check out this place again to try out another cup of soup.
The biggest difference between this place and other sandwich places is the bread. Personally, I don't enjoy dry 'subway' style bread. The bread here has texture and good flavor and honestly, the biggest part of the sandwich...
Read moreBest recent find for gluten free options!! Came across this sub store from the Find Me Gluten Free app and took a chance based on the high ratings. What a find!! Everything is made fresh (no tubs of food sitting there - cut the lettuce, cut a tomato, etc), they have a dedicated fryer for GF options and a yummy GF hoagie roll!! Even better - they offer gluten free fried chicken on occasion. If you contact them and ask to be put on the email list, they will send you an email when it is going to be available. We took advantage of it last night and it was WONDERFUL. Large serving of deep fried boneless chicken breast and a serving of fries - and no one was sick :) I did carryout both times I visited (gave the owner a time for the chicken pick up via email and he had it practically ready when I got there which meant it was super fresh). The owner is very friendly and I have enjoyed watching him interact with other (older) customers. Very sweet. Try it!! You'll love it!! Not your generic sub shop - lots of unique...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience trying this sandwich shop out on 3/5/24!!! It’s the day that Mac & cheese with fried chicken tenders were featured. Came in from out of state to visit family and because of my gluten intolerance decided to use one of the GF food finder apps for Georgia in hopes to seek a good meal without necessarily spending 2 hours sitting in a restaurant. The Hoagie Bros Marietta location was featured and although far, the pictures of food looked sooo good to me. Well, it was a delicious meal and the owner/manager was so nice to talk to as well. I made the trip from an hour away blindly not knowing what to expect but hey that’s me 😂. It did not disappoint! Very reasonably priced for the amount of food I received. And there was plenty left over to re-warm next day as well. I now have a place to look forward to when in town that I trust is safe. The entire menu was reviewed with me as well as desserts to let me know that there is always plenty...
