Ok Google Foodie Fam, here's my take. First, Righteous Que's brisket is the exact same in terms of taste, style, marbled meat and seasoning as GC's Bar B Q. (Not sure if one worked with the other at some point). The BIG difference here is Righteous did Righteous!! Damn Son!! This is what I've been talking about to friends around here since moving from the San Francisco Bay Area, SEASON YOUR FOOD SON!!!
Marietta/East Cobb is known for the majority of their restaurants that are just bland in taste. Not sure why that is. I've had GC Bar B Q and it's the same thing lack of seasoning the crust of the brisket is good but the rest of the meat has NO FLAVOR. The same thing at there Roswell location.
Righteous did Righteous thier brisket is juicy and tender but what separates them from GC is THE FLAVOR!! Thank you for being true Righteous to yourself!
Next the sauces, the red bar b q sauce is on point. Sweet but not too sweet and still had that bar b q manner to it. The vinegar/Italian dressing cream sauce was interesting. Not sure about that one, but still Interesting.
The Greens, Ok my black brothers and sista's. Help me out here. I've traveled this country (Military) and lived all over. Coming from the West Coast to The ATL I expected Greens to have some soulful taste, you know!! Greens cooked in some bacon grease, along side some ham hocks etc.. The ATL has failed me! Every soulfood place I've been too so far has been epic Bland!! I mean BLAND Bland as all get out!!
Righteous did saved me this time. Big Ups on putting some flavor to your Greens. Are the above or on par or better than my mother's or aunts. Not even close, BUT, they flavored them more than I can say for most, even in the well known ATL West Side SMDH Hi Five Righteous on the Greens. Add those ham hocks and season you'll be a Big Hit!!
Mac&Cheese, Ok it was the old school style and it's good. Just kick it up a notch or two. A little cream and SPAM cubes. You'll be true to southern Mac and cheese. GC does have some rich heart attack Mac & Cheese.
Overall so far you have a good start over you competition. Loved the sides but let's take it to the next level. Greens try some African Greens and ham hocks. Your welcome, about time the East Cobb area has a restaurant that likes to flavor their food!! Keep it up!!
And BE Righteous!!!...
Read moreGREATEST BBQ SANDWHICH IN THE WORLD. If you read nothing else of this review, know that the Soul-Saver Sandwhich will literally do just that! I got chills after every bite. Layers of excellently cooked and seasoned beef brisket, tender pork, juicy chicken, and thick bacon piled high on two perfectly buttered Texas toasts!! Add some of the two sauces on the table, seemingly crafted from the tears of gods, and you will have an ecstatic taste explosion upon every bite!
I've been from Sanfran to Prague and this sandwhich takes its claim in the top three most delicious things Ive ever eaten! (battling for first against handmade pasta dishes in Tuscany and fresh paella in Ibiza)
However, That sandwhich is not all that makes this restaurant shine! The Mac and cheese is out of this world, super cheesy and wonderfully seasoned. The banana pudding is delicious and stands out from the typical banana pudding disaster with another layer of complexity that is sure to settle the score with your taste buds.
I also love that the menu is short, just a few things done excellently always wins out against a long menu executed in mediocrity (cough cough.. Marietta diner)
Enough about the food, you know I liked it, now go try It yourself. It's worth the drive, wherever you live in Atlanta. I just want to say that the staff that served us was just as excellent as the food. Striking a perfect balance between helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Small things made all the difference, smiles, eye contact and great conversation skills. I am not great with names but the blue-eyed young man working on become a personal trainer was so pleasant!
In conclusion: Righteous Que rewrites the proven restaurant philosophy from, "do one thing right." to "do one thing righteously!" Perfect food and happy staff combine to provide a taste bud salvation that is sure to awaken your forgotten...
Read moreNot sure what's going on lately, but been quite disappointed with the service. Always seems like the senior person on duty is, maybe, 17 years old. And things go on, as you guessed, like kids are running the show.
Put in an order 4 hours before a scheduled pick-up time. Got there 5 minutes after that scheduled time and not a single item was prepped. To that end, they told me they didn't have any chicken left. The guy ahead of me apparently got the last of the chicken too, which is frustrating. They subbed another meat, but took 15 minutes to prep my order (almost forgetting items I ordered before I mentioned it), which meant I left 20+ minutes AFTER my order should have been ready. If my order had been prepped to be ready upon my scheduled arrival, I would have received the chicken I ordered.
A bit more egregious is that the individual prepping meat dropped a styrofoam container on the floor (I saw it happen). A few minutes later, a different employee picked up said container and put part of my order in it. I asked if that container was on the ground and he answered, "No, I took it off the bottom shelf." There was no bottom shelf of containers from what I could see, and the container has some meat rub on it...from the meat prepper's glove when he dropped the container. The kid broke health code and lied to me when I caught him.
Not going back here, honestly. Prices have been jacked up well past "Insanity" levels, especially for BBQ. And with service like this, there's no...
