I was looking forward to a nice, simple dinner tonight so I placed an order for pickup at Sal's. In hindsight, I should have lowered my standards right from the start because the whole thing was a mess from the get go. The girl who took my order did not know how to pronounce multiple menu items, she kept repeating things back incorrectly, and could not answer simple questions about the menu. However, finally thinking she had my order correct, I drove 20 minutes to pick up my food and then drove back home. When I got home, I had manicotti instead of calamari. The calamari was the entire reason I ordered from Sal's, to get everything we liked from one place that supposedly had good food. I asked if garlic knots were a dine-in only complimentary item or if it came with every order, the answer was, "It's 4.99." I asked if I could do a half-order because we really did not want 12 knots, and again was told, "It's only 4.99." So, I paid for garlic knots only to find out the meal came with 4 anyway, which is really all we wanted to begin with. I called to try and solve the problem and their only solution was that I could bring back the incorrect food and they would refund my money. They refused to refund even one item, that I did not order, without me driving another 40 minutes to give them the food that they rang in incorrectly. I should not have to drive another 40 minutes for them to fix their mistakes, what a poor excuse for customer service. The food they did get right and we did eat, was very bland. Almost $45.00 for two 'entrees' and sides, nowhere near worth the price or drive. Spend your...
Read moreOdered two very simple entree's and a single order of garlic knots.( mind you my girlfriend and i love their food and have ordered from sals before) waited over an hour for our food, they're maybe 10 minutes away, no im not lazy i just enjoy the convinience of delivery after work all day, now the time span for our delivery wasn't that big of a deal.Where we had a problem is our orders. my girlfriend ordered eggplant rolls and got a COLD eggplant parmigana, our garlic knots ALSO CAME COLD...... at this point im only slightly upset because this is the first time we have had this problem and once again we love their food.......Any ways my girlfriend calls to inform them that not only was her order wrong, but that our food was also cold and they get an attitude with her..... Now honestly i feel an attitude is extremely unnecessary at this point along with the slight insult of their statement of "well we can send you more garlic knots", first off we arent asking for more food , nor are we asking for any freebies..... Our simple intent was to inform them of the incident, but seeing as they all beleive in having an attitude with good paying customers who order from the mregularly they have lost our business indefinately..... i would NOT recommend sal's to...
Read moreEver since the owner changed, this place is not what it used to be. Being from NY, I know good pizza and Sal’s used to be the place that in my opinion, had the closest to NY pizza you’d find in the south. Since the owner switch, the pizza doesn’t seem to be as great and the garlic knots as of late have been more of a miss that a hit. I’ve had garlic knots ranging anywhere from burnt, to super oily & soggy, to undercooked with raw dough in the middle. But none was like my experience from last night...THERE WAS SO GARLIC ON THE GARLIC KNOTS. You read that right- knots without garlic. I don’t know how anyone could forget to put garlic on knots. I hate to leave this review as I’ve always had okay customer service and have been a loyal customer since I first moved here 5 years ago, however last night, eating pizza with garlic-less garlic knots what’s a big disappointment. Being from NY, I know what good NY style pizza and garlic knots should be like and Sal’s used to be exemplary. Unfortunatley, I will be finding a new spot as this will probably be the last time I get food from Sal’s. The garlic knots without garlic was just...
