We had our ordered delivered so I cannot rate the service and atmosphere. Anyway, here goes:
In a world where restaurateurs are using the term "brunch" as a money grab, The City Bodega Cafe is not one of them. We ordered an ungodly amount of food (6 or 7 orders) and were happily greeted with a bill of $107. I will give a rundown of what we had:
The French Toast: Hit all the right notes. Eggy, Creamy, and Spiced. However, they gave us NO BUTTER - That's a no-no.
The Eggs: I ordered scrambled eggs, and at a time when eggs are worth their weight in gold, The City Bodega Cafe gave me enough to feed three people. However, they did have a slight after taste. Maybe from the oil used or something else but I still enjoyed them.
The Grits: It is obvious that whomever made the grits had a Big Momma somewhere in their household (AMEN) because the grits were thick, rich, and flavorful! My only complaintâwhen you advertise "cheese grits," I expect them to be fully mixed and not just a dollop of cheese on top. Barring that, they were fantastic.
The Bacon: Smoky and crispy. (Even after a 1 & 1/2 delivery time)
The Biscuits: Fluffy, mouthwatering and delicious.
I also ordered the fried fish and a chopped steak sandwich, but I'm full now and will have to review them later.
That said, the chopped steak sandwich is almost too long to fit in the to-go container (literally)! I will definitely be checking out the rest of their menu.
Oh... I forgot the best thingâno forced 20% gratuity rip-off added to my bill just because brunch is being served in the state of Georgia.
The City Bodega Cafe is my new spot! Always thanking my daughter for her...
Read moreI've been seeing this place for the past week going back and forth from work.
Today, I decided to get some breakfast there with my son. You can always find something delicious at a Bodega in NYC, so I figured it should always be as so anywhere you see one.
I had the salmon patties with scrambled eggs, grits and a biscuit. The parties were good; not salty nor over seasoned. Eggs were good, and included a little garnish on top; maybe parsley. The grits were good too, and, they give you enough to get full on.
My son had the strawberry French toast, and was totally satisfied.
They had great music in the background, complimentary water, and a nice attitude; very friendly. The place does accommodate a very small number of dine in guests, so don't expect a big seating area. July 15th is the grand opening day where they will have a very full selection, including macaroni cheese and yams (my favorite).
I look forward to this establishment's continued success, and will be supportive anytime I get hungry đ. I can't wait to try their Chopped...
Read moreI was so pleased eating at this ny style restaurant with an upscale twist. My sausage, egg n cheese breakfast sandwich at this location one Wednesday was so good, I came back Thursday with my husband. He ordered the shrimp and grits and I got the salmon cakes with grits and eggs. The shrimp and grits had so much flavor it was a cajun style so had a lil spice and had sausage in it. My salmon cakes were moist and 2 nice pieces with dipping sauce. The grits were good and eggs didnât need any extra seasoning which is a plus. We also tried the peach lemonade, mango and the tropical punch. Delicious itâs store made taste wonderful. The food was sooo good. Fresh, delicious I felt I was back in queens NY talking to the owners both days they were so friendly and are from ny as well. So glad we have a authentic New York spot out here finally. Must try place and we will definitely be...
