I had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a Waffle House and not just once, but twice. From the moment we walked in on June 7, the service was absolutely terrible. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. Barely anyone was there, so we expected a relaxed, easy visit. But nope. We were wrong. While ordering, we needed just a few extra seconds to look over the menu, not even two full minutes and the server, whose name was Ms. Lenora (or something close to that), immediately seemed irritated. She mumbled “Oh my gosh!!” under her breath loud enough for me to hear. It felt extremely disrespectful, especially since we weren’t holding up a line or causing any kind of delay. What made it worse was that she was noticeably nicer and more patient with other customers. Laughing, smiling, and being friendly. The difference in how she treated us made me feel like it was about more than just being "in a rush." As a Hispanic customer, I truly felt uncomfortable and disrespected. I tried to give the place another chance, but today, July 12, I had almost the exact same experience — honestly, maybe even worse. I went in to place a large order and I understand that big orders can be a little confusing or take more time. That’s why I was making sure to talk with my mom first and confirm we were ordering the right food, because obviously, we didn’t want to order something wrong. It didn’t take more than a minute, but Ms. Lenora kept interrupting us by asking “Is that it? Is that it?” over and over before we were even done. I felt like I couldn’t even talk to my own mom without being rushed. And yes, I noticed her uniform; black with a touch of blue it was different from the other workers who wore all blue, so I’m assuming she’s a manager. But instead of leading by example, she kept rolling her eyes, giving us side-eyes, and showing zero patience the entire time we tried to order. Again, it wasn’t like we were dragging things out. We were just trying to be clear. I was speaking to my mom in Spanish, but I speak fluent English, so communication wasn’t the issue. At this point, I can’t help but feel that we’re being treated differently because we’re Hispanic. If she is a manager, her behavior is especially unacceptable. People like her should not be representing your business or working in customer service, especially not up front where they’re interacting with guests. I won’t be coming back to this location, and I really hope someone from Waffle House looks into this. This feels like discrimination, and it’s incredibly disappointing that it's happening not once,...
Read moreWorst experience at waffle house ever. My server didn’t have menus in the table even though it was quite obvious since myself kids and boyfriend were all looking at her and still had to ask for menus. She then goes to ask another employee if she keeps menus on the table... we order our food, she never takes a drink order. I’ve never been to a Waffle House an they don’t bring out your drinks first, or any restaurant for that matter. So we sat there ate in silence and she comes back to give us a ticket... I’m wondering if she noticed she didn’t put drinks on there? I went to the register to pay and asked to speak to a manager, she asked for r what reason and I told her bad customer service. She proceeds to go tell my waitress what I said an she come to the counter asking what the problem was. The manager comes out I run these things by him and he says It’s not Waffle House standard to do drinks orders first. What?!? Everyone I go to serves drinks first! I said ok well she never came back either. Then he apologized and said he’ll comp our next meal I said no need we won’t be back he kept insisting that he’ll comp the next meal an how they are one of the best waffle houses in dekalb I shook my head an said I just want it to be known that her customer service was bad no need to...
Read moreI want to preface this review by saying that I do not usually leave negative reviews, and I do not like to do so, but after thinking about it, I felt like I should.
My best friend and I came into this waffle house on Tuesday September 30th around 10am. We decided to sit and eat at the counter. I had JUST finished telling my best friend that this location was my favorite in the area. The waitress, who had her back to us, turned and asked if we were placing a to-go or dinning there. The moment we said we were going to dine in, she rolled her eyes, made a face, and turned her back towards us before stomping off to retrieve her notepad (I'm guessing). To us, it seemed like she was upset that we had decided to dine in instead of getting a simple to-go order. This was very offensive to us so we decided to leave without ordering anything at all and went to a different location instead.
I ALWAYS tip a minimum of $10, or 30%, whichever is higher. I used to be a waitress and I even bus my own area. I am the nicest, easiest customer to have and it takes A LOT for me to complain, but the way the waitress acted made me feel completely unwelcomed here. I...
