I’ve been to the chop house many times over the years for special occasions as it’s a very pricey restaurant. That said I never minded paying the extra money as the quality of the food was and key word “was” amazing. Our waiter was amazing and the service at the front of the house was great. However the Kitchen fell very short on execution. I had Divers scallops that were not properly seared and looked like two of them were cut in half to stretch the ingredients which is unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. I also don’t believe they were fresh scallops as they also lacked the sweetness and proper sear and that golden brown that you usually get with what’s called a dry scallop. That said my one adult son ordered a top cut of meat and ordered it medium rare. It came out a touch under well done and the one thing I expect a very expensive steak house to get right us the temp on a quality piece of meat. I asked the waiter if he thought it was cooked right and he immediately sighed and said definitely not. He then rushed it back and then came out with another cut of meat and instead of it being mid rare it was completely rare any less it would have been raw. It had a hard sear. My son was frustrated and ate some of it and said he didn’t want to wait any longer for them to get it right. My daughter ordered the lobster mac and cheese and there was barely any lobster in it. I saw other recent reviews with similar complaints but didn’t believe it and thought maybe it was an isolated incident. At this point going out for my birthday I rather stay home and cook my own steak and other food as I can pick out better ingredients and cook a steak better with my eyes closed than this experience. I will not be returning. Also the patio area has a great view but it’s very noisy especially since your near an outside bar as well. I could barely hear my children trying to talk to me and that is what eating with family is all about. The company of friends and family. The only reason I have it two stars is because of the great wait staff and the beautiful building and view. Also ordered the Crème brûlée and it was also disappointing. It didn’t have enough sugar to get true hard candied top. Again even my kids can make a better one and they have. Also with tip it was 250 dollars no alcohol and one of the entrees was for my young daughter which was...
Read moreI only give 1 star because I am required to give a value. I had a very underwhelming experience from start to finish and am disappointed that I can't contact anyone directly, instead of making this review public. The hostesses were rude and unwelcoming, I would post names if they had even introduced themselves. We were told the restaurant was no longer seating even though we had come well in advance of the time they claimed the restaurant stopped seating. We were not directed towards the bar seating that was still open and available. We were not greated by the bartender who seemed to try to push us off to an open table out of her section. As for the meal, we had an order of the Kona Filet tips, we received, at most 3 'tips' in a dish predominantly filled with mushroom. The bartender had told us the kitchen was closing so we needed to rush getting a dessert order placed, while we still had not received our full order, then disappeared for over 25 minutes. The entire meal felt like we were rushed, and unappreciated. It wasn't until I flagged down another bartender that I found out dessert orders could still be placed, and that the kitchen was in fact still taking orders. The bartender had focused on a large group at a table that she was not serving, who were rude, obnoxious and inappropriate the entire time. The truffle fries we had ordered were cold, soggy fries, masked by an overly excessive amount of parmasean cheese. The cheesecake slice I received as dessert was the smallest sliver I've ever seen, it was no bigger than 4 bites, and is certainly not worth the outrageous price. The minimal amount of staff in the restaurant were all rude and unhelpful, except for two of the bar-backs/bus boys. One of which, had come towards the bar at the end of our meal, and poured himself a beer, in front of the very few customers still in the restaurant, including ourselves. The bill was dropped without any follow-up for more desserts, drinks, coffee, etc., however the loud group in the section was still at their table and did not seem as if they were being pushed out themselves. The entire experience was very disappointing, and I would strongly recommend against eating at this overpriced establishment and certainly will not be returning anytime...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with my experience at The ChopHouse. I made a reservation, called the restaurant and told them I will be late. The hostess told me that it was okay. As I arrived to the Chop House, Valet didn't care to park my car. I was told to "just back in to an open spot". As I was parking I noticed someone at the host stand but when I walked, they were no longer there. It seemed as if we were being avoided.
I stood at the host stand for approximately 15 minutes and not a single person stopped to ask if they could help me. My guest went to the bar to see if someone could help and I proceeded to go into the dining room. As I walked in, I noticed the kitchen was cleaning up. I asked the gentlemen in the kitchen if they were still seating, he told me no - the kitchen closed about 5 minutes ago.
I then walked back to the host stand and met my guest. She told me that the bar said that they were closed. However, we were there 30 minutes before closing. If someone simply greeted us when we walked in, we could have sat down and had dinner. We stopped one of the employees to see if someone could help us out, he proceeded to get a manager which took some time for one to come out to us.
Upon meeting the manager, I expressed that we were standing at the front for 15 minutes and simply asked if we could have dinner. The manger told us no and that the kitchen closed 15 minutes ago which contradicted what was just told to me by the kitchen staff. He then told us that we could have a gift card to eat another time.
I feel this situation could have been handled better. No one seemed like the wanted to help us. On a late Friday night, not many other good places were open to eat at that hour. I've worked in the restaurant business for approximately 10 years and never have an establishment I worked for turned away a guest 30 minutes before closing. At a place like this, I easily expected to spend at least $300 and being a server myself, I had every intention on taking care of the sever who would've taken care of my guest and I.
It's truly upsetting that no one bothered to help being that multiple employees saw my guest and I at the host stand. I've heard great things about the food but it's unfortunate that they...
