Gaffer's Pub — Restaurant in Gladstone

I would have never thought in a million years that a little hole-in-the-wall Town pub would have such amazing absolutely phenomenal fish and chips. I haven't had good fish like that in 9 years. The bartender lady - Calie I believe is her name, was very personable and professional!!!both her and the cook we're geared up appropriately for this pandemic that we have going on and the place had steady business but was not overcrowded and everyone was being polite it was a nice sight to see after being in isolation for so long I will most definitely be going back there and I will be telling everybody about this place it is a rare gem between the bartender to cook the food and the drinks this is a one-in-a-million you have to go got to give...

I ordered fish & prawn plate with a side of coleslaw. When I read about Gaffer's Pub it said that the fish was house cut and dipped and the coleslaw was also house made! So the fish was very good, as was the tarter sauce. The prawns seemed to be something I would buy in the freezer section at the grocery store. It was dry and definitely not house made. The coleslaw was very dry and seemed to be missing the dressing, also a bit bitter. The crinkle cut fries were also something that you would find at your local grocery store. So really the only good thing was the fish and tarter sauce I am sorry to say. I was looking forward to a good coleslaw. One more thing, there were 6 or more poker machines. I've been coming here off on for the last 5 years, I just live up the street and it's an easy nice walk. The new bartender Dave has been one of the best bartenders I've ever met going over and beyond his duties to make customers happy, always working hard to keep the place looking good, clean and professional! I DO NOT go in the place on Friday and Saturday's!! The bartenders and cook are VERY lazy and close early!!! They do the absolute minimum they can get away with!
