Farmwald's Dutch Bakery & Deli — Restaurant in Glasgow

First I want to say that IDK how this location has anything other than 5 stars! I’ve been coming here (whoever I run through this area) for quite a while since just before COVID anyway. Left a review about a yr ago and deleted it so that I could leave a new one. I loved this place even before they expanded. I think last years review may have been just after the expansion. I honestly don’t remember. But I can say that I still absolutely love this place! Every time I’ve been in here the employees have been nothing but great! The place has always been clean. The food has always been great and there’s so much in the store to see and/or buy! One could possibly go broke in here lol. Between all the canned goods, prepared foods, locally sourced items and the items that they make, ITS ALL JUST SO WONDERFUL! If I could fit some of this stuff in my semi, I’d be buying more of the things that they make like their chairs and such. Only thing that’s a slight bummer, is I wish they still had a cold sandwich option. I used to come in here, grab my meal and grab a cold sandwich for my next meal (along with all the other goodies that I would take with me for me and the fam when I hit the road). They no longer have cold sandwiches. I can only assume they must have been losing $ on them. But they were so good! Thanks to all who made having such a wonderful business possible for us to access! Amish po boy was pretty awful to be honest. Greasy and had an awful texture. It came out cold in the middle the first time and had to be sent back. Second time it was hot but I couldn’t eat it. Husband tried it too and said it was nasty. Bad texture. His grilled chicken sandwich was “ok” but I could tell it was a pressed chicken type patty. Not a real breast. Fries were good. Basically they have the opportunity to serve good homemade food that Amish are known for, but instead it’s frozen greasy, sub par food they’re heating in the back. It’s almost like I felt cheated because I thought it was gonna be normal home made Amish food. Such a let down to be honest. Granted, maybe other options are tastier, who knows.

Didn’t try the desserts but they look to be dried out in the case. Not sure those are homemade either.

“Sit down” ‘side of restaurant was half closed off by 7pm, not your typical sit down which would be nice since that’s what the area is for. Basically it’s walk up, order and then they yell your name to come get your food. Not someplace I’d recommend for a good date night. Staff was nice but not overly friendly.

I hope they’ll take the opportunity to make this place into what it could be. No one wants premade food out of a truck. Make your food homemade and have a few waitresses to take full advantage of the nice place you have. If changes were made the place could be so much better. As it is now, we’d not go back nor...

We stopped by around 2:30 pm on a Friday in July. There were a few people in line ordering but not many seated in the dining room. When we went to sit down, NONE of the MANY empty tables was wiped down. Every bottle of ketchup / mustard, salt and pepper shakers was empty (went to several tables to find any that were filled). The trash cans were all overflowing.

Food came out quickly - a BLT- was mostly lettuce, one thin slice of tomato , and two pieces of bacon. The fries were hot but way over salted. Husband had a grilled chicken sandwich that was also underwhelming.

Others came in behind us and tried to get soda from the soda machine- ALL of the valves but one were blown/empty. A kitchen worker went to check and came back and said they were out of all the mixes so to just get bottled or canned drinks from the store instead.

They had lots of baked goods - we tried the raised donuts and they were fresh and tasted okay.

The place got a bit busier as we finished, but no one ever came out to wipe tables , refill any condiments, or empty trash, the entire 45 minutes we were there. We saw kitchen workers leaning on counters in the back talking. They were all young adults/kids.

The bathrooms were also dirty and a mess with overflowing trash cans.

Really wanted to like this place , but most of all, the very obvious lack of concern for cleanliness or quality control makes me...
