Edit: Apparently there has been a change in management. A nephew took over and has transformed the quality of the food. They were amazing when they first opened a few years ago, then there was a marked dip in service and quality of the food, but honestly, everything is now way better! Even better than it was when originally. The Chicken Satay is amazing. Rice is perfect. Dumplings delish! Go back! If you like Thai, you're gonna love Thai Thai in G-bo!
My husband will be mad at me for leaving this review, because he has been unwavering in his loyalty to Thai Thai ever since this place opened. Sadly, I can no longer remain silent. After many years of this being our local go-to family take-out place, I have to report that their quality has dipped way way below what is acceptable.
We keep going back, remembering all those wonderful meals from the past... Even though, honestly, even when they were getting it right, they were still often getting it wrong. But at least back then, my food had flavor. For example, I normally order the Thai Basil with tofu, and I always ask for a "little bit of spice." In the past, they've make it way too spicy to the point where I cannot eat it, but these days, the dish simply has no flavor whatsoever. No matter how many ways we repeatedly ask, it's always now flavorless.
But that's not even the worst part. Obviously, they're cutting corners, based on the look of the Chicken Satay, which clearly has fewer, smaller, sadder pieces. You might think, oh, they've decreased the quantity, perhaps to increase the quality. But there you would be wrong. Included in those sad few pieces of "chicken" are inedible bits of gristle. It just looks icky. Not good.
And maybe you're thinking this general dip in quality might mean their prices are reasonable, but you would be wrong again. It's a hundo pop every time. I guess I'm hoping they will read reviews and get it together, but sadly, I don't think I'll ever find out, because I'mma suggest manfolk make different choices on our take...
Read moreHaven't written a review in quite a while, but figured I'd give it the time for this place. Especially, because my wife and I just ate here earlier tonight. Food was fantastic. Service was also great. It wasn't very busy with seated diners, but the phone was ringing off the hook for take out and we still felt very well attended to.
Lychee Iced Tea - Solid drink. I'm sure this would be good for a mixed drink base if picked up for take out.
Curry Puffs - Outer shell was very light and crispy. It was particularly nice because the filling had a mostly smooth texture. The "cucumber sauce" was lightly reminiscent of nouc mam, in that it was sweet a with a hint of spice, had some sour to it (although I don't believe it had fish sauce in it).
Tamarind Duck - Was amazed that the duck was fully deboned when it arrived on the plate. Many other Thai restaurants I've eaten at still have at least some number of bones after having been carved. The duck was also very appropriately crispy. Sauce had an excellent balance of sweet, sour, umami, and salt.
For an appetizer my wife got Crab Rangoon, which came with a homemade Thai chili sauce and both the sauce and the "money bags" were great. For an entree she got the Spicy Drunken Noodles, which had the perfect amount of Thai Basil to go alongside a Goldilocks level of spice. (Personally, I thought it wasn't very spicy, but I have a very high tolerance for capsaicin compared to most people).
We will have to return to try more of the menu, but the items we've tried so far have...
Read moreWe usually order takeout from Thai Thai, and itâs been our go-to for a while nowâseriously, weâve lost count of how many times weâve ordered from here. But when our friends recently moved to the area and were craving Thai food, we figured it was the perfect excuse to bring them to our favorite spot and finally try dining in.
Let me just sayâit did not disappoint. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, and someone who I assume is one of the owners greeted us so warmly. She was incredibly kind and made us feel totally at home, which made the whole experience even better.
As for the foodâjust as amazing as always. Weâre obsessed with their drunken noodlesâtheyâve got the perfect balance of spice, sauce, and that slightly smoky wok flavor. The crab Rangoon is crispy and creamy in all the right ways, and the Thai iced tea is just the sweet, rich refreshment you want alongside it all. We also ordered the pad Thai, another favorite, and it was as delicious as everâtangy, slightly sweet, and super satisfying.
It was so nice to finally enjoy it fresh from the kitchen and share it with friends. Weâre honestly just so happy we found this placeâevery time we eat here (takeout or dine-in), it reminds us why we keep coming back. Highly recommend it if youâre in the area and craving really solid, flavorful Thai food...
