Golden Wok II restaurant — Restaurant in Glen Ellyn

Golden Wok II is a favorite spot for really good local Chinese food... People are very nice, helpful & turn out consistently fresh delicious food... I usually get delivery - never an issue & always prompt & friendly... They use to have dine in & I loved to go for the lunch buffet with a variety to satisfy anyone...But since COVID it's ONLY pickup, delivery & catering... It hasn't been so easy, but their food is STILL top notch!!! Their brown egg foo young gravy is the Standard & the best I've ever tasted... Here are some of my favorites... Eggrolls, Stir Fried Rice, Crab Rangoons, Shrimp Foo Young, Beef or Chicken Broccoli or with Pea Pods... They make any dish however you want, some changes & or additions come with a small fee, but the consistent quality is hard to beat! Place is nice & clean, it's on the north side of Roosevelt Rd, just a few blocks east of 355 Xway in Glen Ellyn! They have a private lot & ample parking ... Cash or credit... They've been in business since 1980 & I've enjoyed all their yummy food for more than 20 yrs... Average rating is over 4 stars for past 43+ yrs! 1. The food is great! I love the Singapore rice noodle dish and my girlfriend gets various items since she really liked her first dish. The alcoholic drinks are made with a more than fair amount of alcohol and mix. Ordering a mango smoothie adds a great addition to the meal.

2. Portions are bigger than you would expect! You can order an entree and bring home food for another.

3. Price is very reasonable. Huge value here. Like mentioned above, for he price, portion, and flavor of the food and drinks, huge plus here.

4. They are very quick to bring out the food and drinks. Like the other points above, you'll be surprised here as well. Even with the pandemic, the take out food is arranged in groups of grub hub, door dash, and then I suppose phoned in orders.

The reason I didn't give 5 stars is solely for aesthetics. You can drive by and it's very unassuming. The inside as well makes you second guess the experience but I would say give it a chance for the...

We love Golden Wok II. It's been our go to since we moved into the area. Sunday we had the BBQ Pork, Golden Wok fried rice, and the Dinner combo #10. The pork was great and the fried rice was yummy as always. The dinner combo, Mongolian Beef Lo-mein, just the right amount of spicy, vegetables and meat cooked perfectly. My only problem with the beef was the ratio of noodles to sauce, was very dry and had lots of noodles left over. Maybe there's a different noodle option to go with there? I'll keep trying. The fried rice that comes with the dinner/lunch combos would be nicer with everything in it like the normal fried rice orders. They seem just a little different in the combo than with a normal order.
