El Famous Burrito — Restaurant in Lombard

2/20/25 Edit to previous review. Came back on this day. Ordered the same item as last time when I wrote the prior review. Happy to report all is wonderful and the food was back to GREAT! I’m so pleased. Thank you all at El famous of Lombard. I have converted the disappointing stars to five stars.

I’ve been coming here for years and it just seems more and more the meat quality is poor. Crunchy steak (?) pieces like either it wasn’t cooked fresh or it’s burnt pieces. Don’t look burnt so I kind of fear it might’ve not be fresh. Either way, can’t stand eating a burrito with ‘crunchy’ meat bits. My suggestion for the business is to bring up the quality of the meat you put in the food, even if you have to raise the prices a little more. People will pay and RETURN for CONSTANT quality. Maybe this explains why at the height of lunch hour of 12:15 PM there’s only a handful of customers. To show my faith in ownership taking seriously these reviews and suggestions, of course I will come back and give them another try. Probably more than just one more time. This place is absolutely fantastic! The moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt so warm and inviting. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right.

The food was seriously impressive. They started us off with hot chips, salsa, and guacamole, and everything tasted so fresh. I’m vegetarian, so I didn’t try the meat tacos, but they had plenty of veggie options that completely blew me away. The vegetarian nachos were loaded and super flavorful—definitely a must-try.

The highlight for me was the chile relleno tacos in corn tortillas. They were packed with flavor and had just the right balance of spice. The grilled vegetable tacos were equally delicious, with perfectly seasoned veggies that tasted like they came right off the grill. To top it off, I had their Horchata—it was smooth, refreshing, and the perfect complement to the meal.

I can’t wait to go back and bring some friends next time. This is definitely one of those spots you’ll want to keep...

Placed an online order at 8:15 PM for pick up at 8:30 PM. Get an email confirmation and a text confirmation. Get there and they seem to be closed for a party even though they are supposed to be open until 9:00. Guess what, they claim they never got the order. Probably because they already had the grills cleaned and their system shut down. If you are closing early, why allow orders to be placed on your website? Was pretty much told we were out of luck, even though the food was already paid for. Was told to leave and come back on Tuesday by Kevin who claimed to be the owner. If he was the owner, why not just give me my money back instead of making me come back Tuesday?
