Service was okay, but lacking in several areas. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it seemed like everyone appeared to be in a bad mood. The person who took my order at the front appeared distracted/ in a daze, and even unhappy to be there. It was not that they were rude but they stood there with little enthusiasm, expression, or affect on their face as customers ordered and asked questions. As I ordered, it was hard to tell they even got what I was saying because of the lack of expression. It was a bit strange and awkward because they acted indifferent and barely spoke loud enough to be heard. One customer seemed upset that the card machine did not properly read his card and made a big deal about it to the young cashier. You have to sign their copy and give it back to them then wait for your food. Some patrons appeared impatient. I didn't feel comfortable enough to want to stay and eat my food because it felt so uncomfortable, so I asked to have it to-go. There was a young man who sat on his cell phone in the corner the whole time. I started wondering if he was an employee. (He was because he had to get up and attend to something in the back, but it was strange because he didn't help out his coworker once who was at the cashier)... On the plus side, the food was hot and delicious as usual, and packed well. I order something different every time I visit and am usually happy with what I get. This time I got a gyros sandwich and was glad they really hooked it up. My smoothie was very delicious as usual too. I'm glad they have great food - but they need to improve their customer service more. Hardly anyone smiled or seemed to care ..... It definitely felt uncomfortable all the way around - both customers and employees at the front appeared to be in bad moods. This definitely can affect the atmosphere of a place....
Read moreJerusalem Cafe in Lombard, IL, is a true hidden gem. This hole-in-the-wall restaurant may not look like much from the outside, but the moment you take a bite, you’ll be blown away by the incredible flavors.
Their chicken shawarma is out of this world—perfectly seasoned, juicy, and absolutely delicious. Pair it with their creamy, rich hummus, and you’ve got a meal that’s hard to beat. The falafel is also fantastic—crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. Every dish tastes fresh and homemade, and the portions are generous.
If you’re planning a party or gathering, this place is an excellent and affordable catering option. They offer large trays of chicken shawarma, rice, veggies, and more, and their catering has been just as good as ordering individually. The quality and value are unmatched, and your guests will thank you for serving such incredible food. Great options too for various dietary needs like vegetarian, etc.
It does get quite busy sometimes and there are really limited seating options, so your best bet is probably takeout. But so worth it for the delicious...
Read moreTough one here... The food was really good, especially the beef shawarma...It was incredible to say the least...The chicken shawarma was avg...It was tender, but a bit light on the seasoning...The rice was good and the falafel was on the upper end of ones I've had previously...They charge you for sauce that you might want with your meal...The front counter gave me two 2oz cups of two different sauces to try out, which were good...
My issue was cleanliness...If you zoom in on the fountain dispenser you will see black film where the soda dispenses on all of the flavors ... Underneath the machine looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in quite a while as well...I wondered what the inside of the ice dispenser looked like and the lines for the soda as well...
There are other spots that need a deep cleaning as well...
Everyone I came across, especially at the counter were friendly and courteous...The pricing for what they offer for their lunch combination special is pretty amazing for the amount of food you are served...
Once again, good food, good pricing and some detailed cleaning is...
