In the spirit of the classic red-striped white roller skates, the nostalgic emblem of Sonic - a place where it feels like Happy Days meets Grease - I rolled on over to write this review. However, after many visits, the sight of roller skates has become as rare as a vegan at a hot dog stand.
Sonic does its best to deliver its unique brand of fast food charm: parking up in your designated area, speaking into the intercom, and before you can say "hot dog on wheels," your order is displayed on a touch screen. It's like the Jetsons, minus Rosie the robot maid. Just a little warning, this touch screen has a PhD in Ignorance, seemingly playing a game of whack-a-mole with your fingers. Don't worry though, it builds character and patience.
Now, about the tipping thing - as tempting as it might be to contribute to the "Roller Skate Fund," it's a bit out of place. The service, though efficient and usually accurate, is hardly at the level of "refill my coffee, please." It does make one ponder if Sonic is trying to replace an employer's responsibility to pay it's employees a fair wage with customer generosity, much like a magician might try to replace a rabbit with a hot dog.
Food-wise, it's fine, kind of like your mom's left over spaghetti on from a Tuesday night. However, over the years, it seems like Sonic might have traded in its Michelin aspirations for more of a "good enough" attitude. But hey, we aren't here for a Gordon Ramsay's kitchen miracle, are we? Speed and convenience are the name of the game, and Sonic seems to have found its niche there.
Now, we come to the golden question: the cost. With every visit, my wallet feels a bit more like itās playing limbo with the prices. How low can it go? Or, more accurately, how high can it go? The rising prices seem more akin to Mt. Everest than to the humble inflation molehill. There comes a point where I wonder if I should just mosey on over to a sit-down restaurant for a meal, or better yet, grab a microwavable feast and call it a day. After all, who wouldn't prefer a five-star microwave dinner in the comfort of home to an overpriced hot dog in a parking lot?
That said, Sonic still manages to rev up its charm. The speedy service is a breath of fresh air in a world where "fast food" often seems to be stuck in the slow lane. So, while my pockets may be grumbling a bit more these days, and I may need to start a "Save the Roller Skates" campaign, I still find myself drawn back to Sonic. For its quirks, its hot dogs, and its stubborn refusal to become just another fast food joint.
Overall, I'd give Sonic a solid 3 out of 5 stars - it's a fun, albeit occasionally frustrating, ride down memory lane, even if the roller skates have decided to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNEVER EAT AT THIS SONIC!!!!!!!!! I LITERALLY NEVER HAD A WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!! I ordered a double cheese burger. They gave me a single cheeseburger. I did not realize this until after I took a few bites. I hit the button and told an employee. They came to my car I explained the situation he said I'll get that reaaced for you, no problem. He did not ask for the incorrect burger, so I continued to eat it. A few minutes later, the same employee came back to my car with a manager. The manager asked for the original burger. I showed it to him, there was now only one bite left & he tells me, very rudely, that he is not going to give me the BURGER I ORDERED & PAID FOR, BECAUSE I ATE THE ONE THEY INCORRECTLY GAVE ME. I told him this is ridiculous, I've never heard such a thing!!!! They gave me the wrong food, which was cheaper than the food I paid for. I literally got into a screaming match with the manager & the employee, repeating that I was baffled that they would not give me the food I ordered & paid for!!! We eventually came to a compromise when I said they at least need to give me another single cheeseburger, since I ordered a double & only received a single. Amazingly, the Limited Mental Capacity Manager had a moment of logic & agreed to that. I'm still not satisfied because ultimately my time was wasted because of THEIR ERROR & LITERALLY GOT INTO A SCREAMING MATCH BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO, LITERALLY, DO THEIR JOB, which is to give the customer the food they order and pay for. I will NEVER visit this location again, in fact I may never visit SONIC ever again, period, for the unfathomable way I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I am not the one who usually complains about much , understand life and ish happens. Never know what someone is going through . Now with that being said , this sonic for the longest time was great . More well made fast food vs Service but overall great up until recently. Tonight was the last night I will visit that location and itās right down the street from my house. We went there to of course get some drinks and food, ordered in no particular order Large Cherry Limeade , Large Sweet Tea , water , quarter pound cheeseburger, mozzarella sticks and a corn dog doesnāt seem like a particularly large order , well it took 15 minutes for everything to come out keep in mind fairly decent busy night . We head home which again down the street and was extremely disappointed on the quality of the food/drinks. Cherry limeade was watered down as well as the tea, mozzarella sticks were cold and texture of the cheese was rubbery . Corn dog, fries same and the burger was decent . Spent 20 bucks including tip, wife went back to just disappointing service . The server who brought out the food was nonchalant , tried to make it seem as if we were making up a story trying to get free food . That wasnāt the worst of it , she didnāt get an apology. Simply said āoh we were really busyā šš .. huh? They unsuccessfully attempted to redo entire order. Limeade was sprite with cherry food coloring , tea was a small everything else was better . Overall I loved sonic , I was a former employee but tonight was the last night of us going to...
