My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday, as we traveled west. With no breakfast, we were eager to stop for a meal. At time of arrival there was ample curbside parking which was great, as we were towing a large trailer; the grassy area across the street made for a great pit-stop for our pup.
Service: The young lady waitress was polite and maintained a good attitude as she progressively became busy and slightly overwhelmed as 3 different groups of people of 4+ entered. It was apparent she was doing her best to keep up & touch-base with her already seated tables.
Food: We ordered 2 chicken salads. One grilled one fried. My husband’s grilled chicken salad turned out ok, he was not a fan of the iceberg lettuce. However, the fried chicken in my salad was raw!
As mentioned previously, the waitress was very busy and it took her a significant amount of time to check on us, but she did, and I showed her the raw chicken. She confirmed, it was indeed raw.
I finished a piece of toast that was on the side of my salad, and another piece my husband had given me from his salad to help “hold me over”.
I stacked the barely touched salad & raw chicken pieces and set them at the end of the table. Our waitress picked them up.
Upon leaving, our waitress questioned if we wanted the salad with the raw chicken removed from our check, we politely responded “yes”. We were surprised that was in question. My husband inquires about getting a salad to go. Our waitress, now cashier, told us that the cook/chef would prepare another one, it would just be a while, as he was preparing the meals for the larger parties that came in after us.
We were disappointed, I have worked in the service industry, I was trained that if an order is wrong, incorrect, or not prepared properly, that order should get remade promptly, before the other orders, that came in after. I understand, things don’t always go right, but it is how we handle those situations that can lead to a better outcome. I didn’t feel those steps were taken today.
Doubtful we will...
Read moreI took my wife here for burgers on Friday night the 12th around 6:30 pm. We ordered Bloody Mary's and Mushroom & Swiss burgers with bacon, sautéed onions and jalapeños on sourdough bread.
The bartender yelled from behind the counter to us from across the room if we wanted our Blood Mary's Spicy and if we wanted them with clamato juice or tomato juice, my wife and I thought this was rude that she yelled across the room at us instead of coming up to us at our table. When we got our drinks, if felt the drink were watered down and warm, even with ice in our drinks. We believe this could've been the tomato juice might not have been refrigerated. We didn't finished our drinks.
When we received our food, my fries were hard and crispy, as if they had been overcooked and we were missing our jalapeños we had asked for, so I asked the cook who took our order if there were jalapeños on our burgers. He said, "No, you didn't ask for jalapeños." I said, "I thought I did." He said, "You didn't." I didn't want to argue with him and ruin our night out even more, so I asked if we could have some. I returned to our table and ask my wife if I had ordered jalapeños with our burgers. She said that I had. I felt like the cook had called me a liar, when he could've said, "I'm sorry, let me get those for you
For our experience at Beck's Railhouse, we felt the staff was rude and "put out" for having to serve us. No kindness was shown from the cook or the bartender. As far as the food and drinks, we thought the staff could've paid a better attention to the quality of food and drinks being served to their customers.
P.S. I forgot to add if you go there you could be fighting off the flies as we did, and the cooking oil smelled old from where we...
Read moreWe stopped in for lunch on our way home from Twin, we were greeted right right away by the server and her trainee, both were friendly and welcoming. The only other table when we arrived had just gotten their food. We placed our order for a mushroom burger with added sautéed jalapenos and onions and an Italian melt. A few tables came in after us and with every table that came in, the cook was increasingly frustrated. You could tell the cook did not want to be at work. He was visibly aggravated, verbally complaining, stomping around and kept disappearing from the kitchen. It looked as though his freezer wasn't stocked with what he needed. While he was out looking for whatever he needed, our food sat cooking in the fryer and on the grill. After more than 30 minutes waiting for our food, it came out with burnt onion rings, the sautéed Jalapeños and onions were not sautéed at all they were just sliced and thrown on fresh, my pepperoni on my italian melt was burnt and the sourdough was so dry and over toasted that I couldn't even eat it. The servers were so nice about it and were truly sorry we had to sit through watching their cook basically throw a tantrum in the kitchen which is visible to the entire restaurant and they totally understood that we didn't want to wait an additional 30 minutes to have something else cooked. We love supporting small business and love finding good food in small towns, so if we are ever through GF again and there is a different cook working, we will give it...
