I was stopped by a kind gentleman walking out of Walmart that handed me their menu. That evening we got home later than expected so I figured we’d order in and why not try a local place, I try to support my people. I called to place a delivery order (5 min away) the lady answering the phone told me delivery is only through door dash or grub hub. I decide to just go pick it up since it’s so close. I ordered the curry chicken platter , lemon pepper wings garlic parm wings, fish platter & a wing platter. The sides were baked Mac and cheese, collard greens, cabbage, and fries. Our order was around $80. The order was done in about 25 min which was good for that amount of food. The curry chicken was burnt baked chicken with curry like sauce lathered on. 0/10. The cabbage was mushy in texture with a lot of juice and taste spoiled. 0/10. The collard greens were a good texture but just not good. It take like canned greens with chicken broth and a lot of pepper added. 1/10. The Mac and cheese was overdone , and taste like greasy over cooked cheeses noodles. 0/10. Fries were sad and soggy 0/10. The fish was not tasty at all. It was dry and flakey and cooked in old burnt grease. The wings were not good at all. We requested fried hard/well done. Both orders were extremely soggy. The one thing that may be salvageable is the cornbread. It was too mushy however the flavor was good. It was a sweet cornbread.
Now let me be clear, I left this honest review in hopes that it will be read by the owners to provide constructive criticism. At some point this was a passion for someone. I hope that the passion reignites to save this business because right now it’s not looking good. There aren’t many options in the area that offer soul food and that are black owned so let’s do this right!...
Read moreI ordered the fish platter, Mac and cheese and candied yams and cornbread. The fish was burnt and all the batter fried off so as you ate the fish the burnt batter wld fall off into the plate. The Mac and cheese tasted like reheated left overs, it had a refrigerated aftertaste. The candied yams were literally diabetic with how sweet they were. I didn’t even bother with the cornbread bc it looked like they either cut the burnt part off the bottom then served it or the just served me a random piece of cornbread with no bottom. That meal was $20 I can’t believe I wasted my money trying to support black own businesses, I walked in she was playing lil durk….I shld have known then she couldn’t cook, smh the women were nice but the food was horrible. Will NEVER be returning. The place is ALWAYS empty and now Ik why. When I put my order in the other lady came from out the Kitchen to go outside to smoke a cigarette as if she’s been busting her chops in the kitchen which based on the food we know that wasn’t happening. Get it...
Read moreI stopped in Brother's Kitchen because of a video I saw on YouTube a few months ago. I was disappointed with the service. When I first walked in, the music was so loud I had to scream to place my order. Also, the person behind the counter was not wearing a mask. While I was placing my order, another customer came in complaining able a missing item in their order. So, now the clerk had to take care of the customer before I could put my order in. Now, after the customer left, I ordered a fish platter with potato salad and greens. The fish was too salty and had too much breading for my taste, but it was a good size portion. The greens and potato salad were pretty tasty. I asked for cornbread with the meal, and I got white bread. I also ordered a piece of sweet potato pie. I cannot say slice because it was just dumped in the container upside down, and it did not taste good at all. I will not be going back there, and I do not recommend this establishment. Nu-Treez, you struck out...
