Over the years, I've often heard one or more versions of "eat where the truck drivers eat because they know where the best food is." Well, in the case of the Sizzling Tandoori Hut, it's true!
There was a constant stream of 18 wheelers coming and going and the drivers ordering their favorite meals. One driver we talked with suggested we try the butter chicken. We did, and it was amazing. We also ordered the lamb korma, and it too was amazing. Both meals included regular or garlic naan at no extra charge and a very simple and refreshing salad of cucumbers, red onion, and shredded cabbage with a light seasoning. Yum! And the quantity of each meal was enough for two meals from each dish.
There were places to sit outside to enjoy your meal, which we did. There is also an inside dining area that has small booths located inside a converted shipping container. Electronic payment was fast and simple, and the person taking the order was very pleasant and professional.
So, if you're hungry for Indian food and in Biggs Junction Oregon, take the time to stop here for a great meal. No, you won't find fancy linens, waiters in white coats, or an elegant dining room setting. It's just amazing food that confirms the old saying that, at least in this case, truck drivers do indeed know where the best places to eat are located.
Tandoori Hut is located on old route 30, just east of the main intersection in Biggs, and on the river side of the road. Just look for all the truckers parked...
Read moreThe food here is better than most dine in restaurants I have been to. Excellent food. I crave Indian food once every 4-5 days and have lived in Portland and Seattle and have eaten at nearly every Indian restaurant in both cities. and I’d rank this food in the top 3-4 places I’ve eaten at as far as taste goes. It definitely will cure your Indian food cravings. Very Authentic tasting. Not too sweet like a lot of places. Definitely can taste the punjab more than the north Indian in the food. The staffs service was great. They even offered me a sample of their lamb masala. I usually don’t like lamb but they insisted so I tried it. I’ll be ordering it next time. It was delicious. The atmosphere is an outside food cart so it’s not like the Taj Mahal but they have dressed it up and have clean tables to eat on with Indian pop music blasting on speakers and TV. They have truck parking and turn around so that is a big plus for truck drivers. I’ll be stopping here every time I pass by. Thanks guys for making my day more enjoyable with your great food. I’m sure anyone who tries it will be coming back. ...
Read moreFabulous North Indian food in a pretty spot overlooking the Columbia. Both the spinach paneer and the chicken curry were really delicious, as was the bite I had of their beef kebab; the naan was fresh and crispy at the edges, just right. And the portions were ginormous, two people could easily have split things, so if you’re going for leftovers this is the spot. Very friendly folks running the place, too; they mentioned that they can do some South Indian dishes as well so it could be worth asking if you’re after something in particular.
They have some picnic tables set up outside as well as a seating area that is inside a converted shipping container, which was handy given the wind in this part...
