tldr: Good food. Unwelcoming environment. Average customer service. Terrible customer service from one employee.
Came here for lunch mid-March 2023. Ordered two times — the 1st time was just to get coffee, the 2nd time was to order lunch for my friend and myself. The cashier for the 1st order (blonde ponytail, mid-30s) was taken aback that all I wanted was a coffee, and when I asked if they had any milk for the coffee, she asked the back staff if they had any, and brought me a little plastic container of skim milk — not nearly enough for the size of the coffee, but it took her five minutes to get me the first little container of milk, I felt bad asking for more — I tipped 25% because she hunted down milk for my coffee. When I poured the little plastic container of milk into the coffee, the milk immediately curdled and floated around the coffee in chunks. I sipped the coffee and it tasted sour and and the chunks of curdled milk had the texture of cottage cheese. I returned to the cash register to ask for a replacement cup of coffee, and stood there for 5 minutes while the blonde ponytail cashier sliced bread samples for the party in line. The other staff in the back saw me, made eye contact, and just kept on doing what they were doing — walking around or sweeping. Not a single one acknowledged me as I was standing there at the register. I finally called over to the first cashier who was still slicing bread samples and let her know that the milk she gave me was spoiled, and that I was going to grab a new cup and just get myself a new cup of coffee, don’t worry about the bad milk, it’s OK, and she glanced over at me without even turning her head, and muttered back “yeah, fine”. I immediately wished I could take my 25% tip back. When I went back in line to order lunch for myself and my friend, it was a very nice older woman with glasses, shorter stature, who gave me bread samples and asked if my friend (who was walking around on crutches after a recent injury) needed help with anything. The 1st blonde ponytail cashier was the one who rang me up for my lunch order, and she didn’t say a word to me or even make eye contact — no, “hi again”, no “thank you”, no smile, no “have a nice day”, no “sorry about the spoiled milk in your coffee”. Nothing. Where did Great Harvest Bread Co find this woman?? The Superfood Salad was great, a solid...
Read moreAmazing food, and the employees are really nice. The sandwiches and the baked goods are to die for. I've also bought the dried stuffing cubes and they make AMAZING stuffing. There was a nasty lady who came in today complaining about them enforcing the mask policy, but I for one appreciate them taking Governor Cooper's mandate seriously and protecting themselves and the customers. I have never had a bad experience here, and I go whenever I can. The only thing I would change is expand their hours in the evening because I can't always get off work in time to come get a sandwich for dinner, and if I could I'd come all the time! Between Great Harvest and Pink Piggy Sweets, it's basically impossible to lose weight in...
Read moreYears ago, I visited this place for the first time, and enjoyed it. Unfortunately when I visited on Monday I was disappointed about the way my food was handled. When I stepped up to place my order, I noticed that the attendant already had gloves on that I saw her play with her necklace with, with the gloves on, grab a pen to write with, then grabbed my cheddar biscuit with the same gloves, warmed it for maybe a minute in the oven. It didn't seem warm when I got it. The way my food was handled was unsanitary, and people should be mindful to change gloves at least for sanitary purposes. Unfortunately decided to throw the biscuit away. I believe this place have great potential, but I will...
