The food here is excellent. It reminded me of the meals I had growing up. This is simple classic home cooked Mexican. I always judge the Mexican restaurant by the beans and rice. The rice was fluffy and the beans mildly seasoned and cooked until almost fallings apart. This is just how I make them at home myself.
One specialty are the chille rellenos. I never do these myself because they are too much work. These were done perfect. You could tell the chilles were fresh, not from a can like many places. All the seeds and skins were removed, lightly battered and covered with a light tomatoes herb sauce and finished with a sprinkle of Mexican cheese.
I also had a chicken mole enchilada. The chicken was shredded with a red chille sauce, stuffed in a corn tortilla and covered with a thick chocolaty mole. Last a small side of fresh sliced cabbage.
I am from out of town so I won't be coming back anytime soon, but I am going to remember this meal for a while. Simple food done with care just like you would get...
Read more4/23 Sunday @ 3pm... a few restaurant goers. A young couple, a older couple, a mid-size family.
price wise: about $12 to $16 per dish. service wise: lagging a bit - Got checked on 3 times in 40 minutes. Never got a water refill. proportions: Nachos-with steak - large. Filled me up. taste / flavor: the food was delicious, hot, and fresh. environment: Alive, well planned out, real flowers, and smelled great.
Indoors & outdoor ambience is modern and welcoming. Theme music filled the space. The nacho place was large, and I did not feel like I was being nickeled & dimed for sour cream or guacamole. Guests are offered some complementary chips and salsa. My dish was on the table in 5 - 6 minutes. The server was authentic, polite, and welcoming.
Ideal for an inexpensive stay-cation experience....
Read moreWe arrived around 9:30am and there was nobody inside but we decided to take the risk anyways. What a pleasant rewarding surprise! I have ordered Huevos with Machacas and honestly, they were the best I ate in my life, and I go to Mexico every year and eat this same dish very often there. My husband also loved his chilaquiles and said they were the best in town! Service was good but not wonderful. We asked for hot chocolate for our young daughters and waitress came back saying they didn't have it, which it was a little disappointing since it's such an easy thing to prepare. Other than that, just wonderful food besides being a beautiful and well decorated environment! Totally recommend this place and we will be coming...
