Agave Blue Tequila & Taco Bar — Restaurant in Gonzales

This was my first time visiting Agave Blue in Gonzales, and unfortunately, it will be my last. First impressions are everything — and for me, customer service is key. We had a reservation for a party of 6–8 and were told the back area would be set up for us at a specific time. When we arrived, nothing was prepared, and there was no acknowledgment or urgency from the staff.

The service overall was extremely poor. Staff were not friendly or attentive. At one point, I asked a gentleman at the bar where the restrooms were — he looked me straight in the face, then looked away and continued talking to another staff member about lights, ignoring me completely. I then tried to get the server’s attention by saying “excuse me,” and she also ignored me.

When it came time to order drinks during happy hour, we were told the frozen margarita machine was broken. This is supposed to be a brand-new restaurant — how is a key part of your bar already out of service? We ordered regular margaritas instead, and they tasted like water with no alcohol. I gave it another try and ordered a second one, which tasted exactly the same — still no flavor or kick.

As for the food, it was lukewarm at best. Definitely not served hot and fresh. Our server was nowhere to be found when it came time for to-go boxes. I had to walk to the front to get help, and it still took 15 more minutes.

I understand this is a new establishment and things take time to smooth out, but where is the hospitality? Where is the customer service and the quality of food that should make people want to return?

I am sorry to say our experience was not very good. My husband frequents the Prarieville location, so we were excited to finally try this one closer to home. We went with friends and all ordered margaritas on the rocks. Some in our group prefer frozen margaritas, but the machine was broken. All of our margaritas were watered down and did not seem to include tequila. When our food came one of us was missing an order of nachos and I was missing my tortilla soup. Our friend had to ask fir his nachos 3 times before they finally brought them and I asked about my soup 4 times and never received it. Another one of us asked for extra napkins as her food was very greasy and they never brought them. Service was slow, we were there over 2 hours and they never refilled our water glasses.
