For a small town, this was a decent lunch. Easy to miss since it doesn't look like a restaurant from the outside. Inside, it is small and simple. Small but fresh salad bar, daily lunch special, fresh brewed tea, fresh cut French fries and great (housemade?) Ranch dressing. Get there early as the tables fill up with locals quickly. I didn't take pictures today but I'll update with some if we return to try breakfast. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. If you are hungry and on a budget, this is the place to go. If you are looking for glitz, ambiance or pampered service this is not for you. As I looked around at other's lunches (lunch and dinner menu is the same) the breaded deep fried shrimp with baked potato looked worthy. Not many places offer baked potatoes at lunch. Onion rings were lightly battered and homemade looking. Chicken fried steak looked impressive. The special today was meatloaf, it looked like meatloaf ☺️. Google maps has the correct directions. It's definitely worth a visit. We are staying at Palmetto State Park in our travel trailer so this was a nice change from my own cooking. It shares the building with the cattle auction so if you are sensitive to cattle sounds, cattle odor or flies, you may not enjoy your meal. I didn't order a...
Read moreRight off the bat I'm gonna say that I expected a restaurant named "Cow Palace" housed at a stockyard to serve more beef dishes.
Stopped by for dinner on a Saturday evening around 7PM. Though busy, we found a table immediately and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. Was disappointed that MOST of the dishes were Mexican food (which I love but avoid due to mild diabetes) or fried (which I also try to avoid due to high cholesterol) and a couple of burgers. They do serve a 16oz ribeye that I knew I wasn't hungry enough for so I tried the Chicken At Its Best, grilled breast with onions, mushrooms and Monterey Jack cheese with green beans and salad bar. The dish was prepared well and tasted good.
The wife had the enchilada plate which she enjoyed. Youngest son had the small chicken fried steak which he enjoyed and my oldest son had the club sandwich which he said he really liked.
Overall it was a good experience but I had been hoping to have a nice, grilled 10oz...
Read moreVery polite and courteous The food is very good. From the CFS to the Philly cheese steak sandwich. However, the French fries are some of the worst I've ever had. Totally saturated in grease. Prices are very affordable for everyone. The amount of food you get is quite a bit. I recommend this establishment!! Please do something about the fries tho. Almost everyone likes fries. I had this problem once before when I was managing a restaurant. All we had to do was switch potatoes. They were a little more costly but way better. Golden Brown and slightly crisp. Potatoes are one of the cheapest menu items for any restaurant. A 5 pound bag for the price of one order of fries. You make your money back with one order. These y'all serve are soggy and taste bad. Not to mention bad for the heart. Clogged arteries, High cholesterol and many more health risks we take by eating the fries the way they are made. Improve the fries and get a five...
