I booked with Wyndham La Quinta for a trip to Gonzales Texas. We weren't looking for anything fancy just a clean quiet safe place to stay a couple of nights. Upon check in on July 31st we went to room 108 and found several large floor fans running at top speed. Not sure why we went into the room and immediately found the carpet wet. Okay I thought maybe they just cleaned it. Walking further into the room we noticed the carpet was not just damp but water soaked about halfway in. It was the worst on the outside wall. I am a commercial facility Operations Director at a large retreat type commercial property. I figured it was the wall AC unit drain backed up or leaking and that's where the water was coming from. Sure, enough I took a look and yes that was it. Not too crazy about the wet floor. You couldn't walk anywhere without shoes. You couldn't leave a bag or anything on the floor. I went to the front desk and spoke with the nice lady at check in. She did advise yes there "was" a leak but it was "fixed" so if I could leave the fans running it would dry out. I thought okay I know what they are dealing with, so I'll play along. We were going to be out all evening anyway so what is the harm in letting the fans dry it out. That was 3 pm. We came back around 10 pm and the floor was in worse shape than before. The AC was still leaking at the drain. I wanted to change rooms and went back up front and spoke to a different young lady about that. She advised they could not swap rooms that late in the day. She asked to leave the Fans running and surely it would dry out by morning. We decided we were stuck so make the best of it. At least the AC was working with outside 90+ heat. Sorry to say the fans were too loud to leave running on high all night so I set them on 1 "low". Morning came and around 9 am nothing had changed. We decided to leave the fans running and come back around lunch time. We were out until 2 pm. When we returned that floor was much wetter than before. The moldy wet smell was also pretty bad. Okay wife and I had enough so we packed our bags and went to the front desk. No rooms available. Okay we will look elsewhere. I did not ask for a refund on my room for the day since it was 2 pm. but I had hoped they would do the right thing. The girl at the desk went behind the wall asked her boss or whoever was sitting there and was told "no refund" on the room for the hours we were there with a soaked floor from 11 am check out to 2 pm. Okay I thanked them and left. Got on the phone and found another room and moved on. Sure, wish they would have done the right thing for the day since we had already put up with more than should be expected. I wish this review was different. I have never written a negative review but feel it necessary today. Will avoid La Qunita...

Read moreUpon checking in, I was informed there was a fan in my room. With more prodding, I was informed the AC was replaced and water was spilled on carpet. Requesting another room, I was told none were available. I asked for a discount and was offered $5 off. After I demanded the front desk call manager, she was then able to give me the same room rate for both nights. She didn't even have to call the manager to do that, surprise surprise. I also informed her we would be charging the rooms on a different card at checkout, and she said fine. When I opened the door to the room, I was hit with a wave of heat and funk smell. Back at the front desk, I told her I refused to stay there. She stomped down the hall to check the room herself like I was lying and to my surprise she found me another room telling me "I'm not supposed to be doing this!" The second room was great, and my son's room was ok, but for a funk that we got rid of with frebreeze. Saturday night, when we got back, my room cards had been deactivated. When I went back downstairs I was given new cards and told me not to store them near my phone. My son carried 1 card in his WALLET, and it was deactivated also. This was their mistake not mine. The real fun came when we went to check out Sunday morning. First, room service opened my door while I was still asleep and then I found that my card had already been charged. When went downstairs to have the rooms charged to a different account (my son's girlfriend paid for the trip as it was his birthday trip from her and she invited me), it took them almost 45 minutes to refund my card and bill hers and surprise surprise the discounts were not given for the room screw up. It took until the following Wednesday to get my money credited back to my account. DUE NOT call the customer care service number. You will be routed out of the country and they were totally useless!! I spoke with Ms. Cantu who was the GM on Monday after the charge went from pending to charged. She worked with IT while staying on the phone with me to make sure everything was charged properly. Thank...
