Wasn’t easy to find a place that had no reservation policy on Saturday in Gorham, Public house eatery initially seemed promising following the nice reviews it had on Yelp, obviously I wasn’t planning to leave 1 star review, nevertheless I would put -1 star if I could. I’ll start from the end and will try to be objective. So here you go: first time in my life we were kicked out from a restaurant (me, wife and our 3 kids) in a middle of eating, and why is that? It’s because the owner of the place (Teresa) considered disrespectful the fact that I didn’t like her main dish (steak tips) , it was truly tasteless and one of the worst steak tips I have ever tasted, (others may disagree while we are the type of families that visit restaurants pretty often), anyone else would suggest to change the dish for something else or at least maybe choose not to have any response at all! After getting directions from the owner of the place the waiter asked us to leave the place and avoid paying the dinner! To show example to our kids we obviously left cash as no one wanted to talk with us or accept any money (the owner ignored us rudely while we respectfully approached her). To be fair the pasta vinucci was great and the caprese salad was nice, the pizza was one of the best, the chicken fritters was mediocre minus while the sauce was nice, and the shepherds pie which we also ordered didn’t even get to the table , every dish was placed on a table in a very random and unpredictable time. Few more comments - not family friendly restaurant with mostly high chair tables, no kids meals and very long waiting time for dish preparation.

This place was a great surprise of a stop traveling back from further north. There are a handful of places to eat in Berlin and Gorham, but this one was better than expected! Staff was happy to be there, our server was especially helpful and pleasant. Menu was thoughtful, all in-house creations not generic pub/pizza place fare. Beer selection was okay, good mixed drink offerings. We ordered the chicken fritters, gluten-free magherita, and mac & cheese. The fritters are their take on "not tenders" and were tasty, as well as the sauces that they mix up for you (get the citrus based spicy). The pizza was good, even the GF crust, which I usually don't care for. The tomatoes were grown from the window boxes you can see from your seat! The mac & cheese was the highlight for me... Enormous portion of farafelle (bow-tie) pasta, in a rich-but-no-too-heavy sauce with chunks of thick bacon topped with asparagus. Not bacon bits, not chopped sliced bacon- cubed chunks of rendered bacon, and a healthy amount of it.

This place was perfect for gluten intolerant individuals. From the GF menu, which is opposite side of the regular, dedicated fryers (which is clearly labeled on the menu), to accommodating staff, it's a must try! The food was phenomenal! The best meal out we've had in a long time. Homemade chips and fries were killer, and the shaved steak sandwich was very tender and flavorful. The cook definitely knows what they're doing!! The cozy environment with choose your own seating creates such an enjoyable meal out. It's so hard to find anywhere good to eat with allergies anymore, especially in smaller, rural towns...so we appreciated all the small touches. Try it know your next drive through Gorham!

There's a story here. After 1 hour of waiting we stood up from our high top table and moved around in an area that was unoccupied and a server asked if we needed our tab or what was going on. We stated it was an hour of waiting for our food and he replied we're slammed and they're was 13 tickets in the kitchen. We sat back down. I said we just were stretching and looking around. Well that trigger what we found out after our food was served. Mine was made wrong, my server offered a remake but it had been waiting 1hour and 15 minutes. I declined. I stated it wasn't worth any additional time as I was with my son. We each stated our position a tad course. But my son was there. He then popped the seal and said the :other server"... here it is. He said I was rude and we were going to walk out while waiting. That was never the case! Then it got heated and as our server with my card in his hand said just leave I can refuse you service.

So I ate my side, my son because of the discussion ate 1 bite. The kitchen was a mess, the chef was yelled at several times. I am on a quest. I hope you read into this as I'm attempting to say politely Do Not Give your business to them!

I was told the owner would speak to me! Let's see if they care more than...

First time here and I would say that I was quite impressed. Hands down the best pizza I’ve had in a long time ... and that may be because I love super thin crust pizza and everyone around me serves doughy Greek style ... meh So honestly they had me before I even had a bite. We ordered the pickle chips and scallops to start. I really enjoyed their take on the pickle chips, the batter was unique and the flavor boost from the spices was welcomed with the acidity of the pickles. The scallops were slightly over cooked but still good. For pizza we had the candied bacon (which we were really excited about because I love smoking candied bacon at home) and the steak pizza. The steak pizza was amazing ... nice fresh slices of portobello, onions, peppers and ph steak! Now the bacon pizza, while good was slightly disappointing as the candied part was a drizzle of maple syrup. It was tasty but I couldn’t see myself eating more than a slice ... unless it had a fried egg on it for breakfast. The staff was prompt, courteous and the restaurant was clean and orderly. No complaints and we would definitely stop again when...
