Nestled amidst the breathtaking beauty of the White Mountains, "The Bear Tap House and Cafe" in Gorham, NH, is a culinary gem that captures the essence of New England charm. From the moment you step inside, you're transported into a world of eclectic elegance, where contemporary flair meets vintage allure.

One of the true highlights of this establishment is its unwavering commitment to sourcing ingredients locally, creating a symphony of flavors that dance on your palate. And let's talk about the coffee – it's not your ordinary cup of joe; it's a vibrant elixir that awakens your senses and leaves you craving for more. The rich aroma alone is enough to set the tone for a memorable dining experience.

But what truly sets "The Bear" apart is its charismatic proprietor, Matt, a true Jack of all trades. From the moment you arrive, he extends a warm and genuine welcome, demonstrating an impressive knowledge of the menu and a passion for making your visit exceptional. Matt takes the time to connect with each guest, ensuring that every aspect of your dining experience is tailored to perfection.

Now, let's dive into the menu – a treasure trove of culinary delights awaits. The homemade bread, crafted with love right here in-house, is nothing short of extraordinary. It's warm, crusty perfection that pairs beautifully with the homemade jams that deserve a standing ovation in their own right. I wholeheartedly recommend indulging in the "Share Bear" bread sampler – a delightful journey through the finest flavors this establishment has to offer.

In a nutshell, "The Bear Tap House and Cafe" is a haven for food enthusiasts, a place where the eclectic and palatable meet in perfect harmony. So, if you find yourself in the picturesque town of Gorham, NH, make it a point to experience this culinary oasis. Four guests for brunch after noon took over two hours. The server didn’t take our drink order until we were seated for about 30 mins. Luckily we ordered our food at the same time. Before this occurred, the hostess/bar tender came over to our smaller 8 top table and asked if we’d be willing to share with another party. We asked if we could at least separate our tables slightly so that we could move around as needed and that proved to be absolutely needed as we had to get our own waters from the bar because the server never brought them and we also had to go to the bar to ask for a missing drink order after about 50 mins of getting three of four drinks. The party that we shared our table with left before their order came because it took so long. The server never made eye contact when walking by our table. An “excuse me” was always needed to get anything for the table. A coffee drink was ordered towards the end of the service and the bartender came over to clarify the order, relayed that they were out of one of the ingredients, and offered an alternative only to never fulfill the order at all. The food is great but it doesn’t make up for the terrible service and cramped atmosphere. You can try to take out food and avoid a terrible dining experience but their phone is never answered and the voicemail advises to go to their website to order but the website doesn’t work. Owner seems like a great person but the staff needs some serious training for this place to...

We were fortunate enough to be walking by Bear Tap House on the very evening of their first dinner service, and what a treat it was! The chef, Matt, hails from Philadelphia and put his own unique twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak. The dedication to quality here is undeniable — both in the top-notch ingredients and the beautiful presentation of each dish. One standout detail: the breads and hoagie rolls are all made in-house, fresh each day, adding an extra layer of deliciousness to an already fantastic meal.

The restaurant itself is cozy and eclectic, with a clear emphasis on delivering an exceptional dining experience. The service was equally impressive. We were greeted warmly and felt right at home the moment we walked in. Kelly, our host and server/co-owner, was a delight — friendly, attentive, and clearly dedicated to providing great service. We even had the pleasure of meeting Matt, the chef and owner, who checked in with us personally after dinner to ensure everything was perfect (spoiler: it was!). His talent and experience in the food scene are obvious in every bite.

The Philly cheesesteaks were a highlight — the meat was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Paired with a refreshing strawberry sangria and delicious local beer, it made for an unforgettable meal. Bear Tap House is truly a gem, and we can’t wait to return! Highly recommend! We stopped in here while visiting Gorham and we craving some breakfast. I have very simple tastes and don’t enjoy things getting too complicated or fancy. So I am usually am very skeptical with rustic restaurants as most of them have so many ingredients I don’t even know. But The Bear was PHENOMENAL, everything was homemade, right down to the maple ketchup (which I NEEDED to take home), with fresh ingredients I know and love. So I was honestly having a really hard time deciding and ordered TOO much. I am still swooning over the Rosemary and Veggie Homefries. The owner was so kind, patient with my pickiness lol, and it was very apparent her passion for this restaurant and I wish I could attend the cute event ideas she shared with us! But I will be keeping this place in my back pocket for any time I come through here again. 11/10 stars. Well done. 👏🏼👏🏼

We drove from Maine to Vermont to have a look at the beautiful changing leaves. We saw this place on our route and stopped by for some lunch. It is a very cozy place and decorated so nicely. The menu is somewhat small, but offers good quality options. I ordered the Jasper Hogan Hodgepodge and my husband got the Applewood BLT. The food not only looked great when it came out, it was really fresh and tasty as well. The only thing I did not like was the coffee I ordered. It was just over the top for me. Service was friendly and their prices are great. If you want to try out a nice little place in Gorham, NH to get a bite to eat, you might want to give these folks a try. I'm really glad we did!

The place looks great. It's very cozy and just neat to look at. The brown sugar cinnamon cappuccino is a must try. The food was great, but the potatoes were not warm when the food came to my table. It tasted really good, and the potatoes were the only food that wasn't warm. The breakfast sandwich was great. The place was not packed, but it took a long time for our food and coffee to come out. I think it is worth the wait, though. The prices were very fair and affordable for a breakfast stop. I had the monsignor sandwich, and my boyfriend had the sausage and bearscuits. Both dishes were tasty. The waitress was very nice and bubbly.
