After coming across this place searching for places to eat that were along our road trip route, I am so glad we stopped by. It is a charming little store and cafe. The staff were so sweet and helpful to us in finding something we liked. I felt very welcomed. They were super fast in putting our order together too! While waiting for our food, perusing the bookstore was a perfect pass time, and they have lots more than just books. Some toys and children's items as well as more general gifts and souvenirs. The books available in the bookstore are of a wide but unique variety which I appreciated. Lots of things about New England, hiking, being outside, nature, etc. I wish I had more room in my suitcase to buy books this trip. But I'd come back again and again for that panini alone!!
Keep in mind seating is limited; there are a few outdoor patio tables under a shade outside and a great view of mountains from your seat. We loved slowing down and sitting out there to enjoy our drinks and food while reading a good book. I'd come here all the time if I lived here....
Read moreBest Breakfast Sandwich in the State? Superb little coffee shop, breakfast & lunch, bookstore place in the heart of the White Mountains. It's a climbers themed type place run by women. I have to say the egg and cheese(cheddar) everything bagel breakfast sandwich($4) gets my vote for best breakfast sandwich in the state. Bagels, for me, are a gamble, like chili, and I usually don't order them. Often they're tough like hockey pucks. The bagel here is tasty, fresh, soft, filling - off the charts. The sandwich is consistently superb. I had a soup one day for lunch that was great, but the real surprise was the grilled piece of flatbread that came with it - of the charts again. The bookstore section has a wide variety of books and periodicals about the White Mountains and other local history - tremendous resource. Overall, a great little locally...
Read moreThe bookshop was filled with typical bestsellers and lots of local specialities like nature guides, maps, and wildlife books. They even had a tiny used book section. Not too many indie titles but their baking section was great. Got an interesting book on Bread Baking. Very cool. I'll never ever criticize a locally owned bookstore in a small town. They're an important staple in every village, town, and metropolis. — The food itself was—ok but the bread was sooooooo yummy in their panini press. But I'll blame myself for the sandwich. I'm not a huge fan of turkey and I got the Madison thinking it would be like carved turkey not deli turkey. My partner's food looked delicious (Club). I wish it came with chips or something but I'd eat here again for sure and get something like the egg sandwiches!!!!! THEIR COLLECTION OF SPARKLING WATER...
