Read moreCalled last night to inquire about the cheese tray. Asked if they can add a few pieces of salami. Was informed it is not possible. I intended to drink 2 glasses of wine with my cheese tray and whatever my guest would dring. But I didnt want to buy a charcuterie and a cheese tray as it would have been to much. I asked if I could bring three slices of salami from home. Note: half brothers allows customers who purchase beverages to order out from other restaurants. The gentleman on the phone said he didn't think it would be a problem but that he would ask the on duty manager (sandy or Sam a female anyway). As he is asking her could hear the entire conversation. Even though the gentleman explained it fine, the manager had to ask him to repeat the question three times. When the manager finally thought she understood, she replied in the snarkiest rude tone. Absolutely not. That is is standard at any restaurant. No outside food or beverage. I wanted to bring only three pieces of salami to add some meat to my tray and as I said above this is allowed at half brothers. Now if it was a no. Fine! But her tone and attitude have lost me as a customer at Helix. Very...
It had been far too long since we had eaten here. We were certainly excited for our Saturday night reservations. It was hard to stay away any longer. We had been looking at all of the great Facebook posts that Helix had been putting up showcasing the specials leading up to our visit. The regular menu has many excellent choices as well. They have a great selection of drinks too. We chose Crab Dip for our appetizer. It was a tough call, because there was a Thai Pork Belly appetizer that was looking delicious as well. Our server was prompt and attentive. We also got a hello from Brad so that's how it's an extra added bonus :) My wife had the Brazed Beef and Shrimp over Mushroom Risotto and I had the special of the day which was Beef Tips covered with Gorgonzola Cream Sauce over mashed potatoes topped with haystack onions. Both of our meals were absolutely delicious. I can't recommend Helix enough. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram to keep an eye on what they are...
Read moreI visited Helix Wine & Bites a few weeks ago and I was very impressed. The atmosphere was cozy and tasteful, the staff were all quite happy and helpful, and the bar was beautiful. I particularly like the couch in the corner near the bar, I thought it really added to the comfy and relaxing vibes of the place.
I came for happy hour, which was half off all beers and 5 dollar glasses of wine. I started with a few happy hour sours and their delicious Helix fries. As I filled up on the less expensive items, happy hour ended at 6pm and I ordered the incredible appetizer special of flank steak carpaccio, and paired it with a delightful Chilean malbec.
By far the best food experience I've had in Grand Forks. I can't wait to return to Helix for a full-on dinner date...
