A Slice Above — Restaurant in Grand Island

I have been praying that this shop would open up so I could run in and buy as much stuff as I could carry out the door! Everything Joyetta and Brian make tastes absolutely Devine. I have known them for years and both are so talented and giving. They truly enjoy watching others eat their creations and go gaga, head over heels crazy for their food! Today was opening day, and I wanted to come by and empty their show case. I got close. I have never ever had a better Le Leche cake. And the Chocolate Peppermint Tea was outstanding. I mean I have had a similar tea, but this tea at A Slice Above went way over the top. The only thing I wish would have been offered would be a steaming pot of hot water in a pretty tea pot. One cup was not enough, I want more! I think that will be offered soon. The establishment is beautiful, from the pretty whimsical creation hanging over the cash register to the gorgeous pink tree in the from window. The furnishings are top notch and the wall decor so beautiful. They have an area where you can watch the owner decorate her creations and take requests. The upstairs sitting area with plush forest green Settees and a fire place for cold days was really inviting. Tons of little places you could hang out in alone or with a friend. Today I got married and had the most wonderful cake and cupcakes to serve our guests! Joyetta's cake artistry and baking skills are off the charts! I knew that I was choosing the best person to do our wedding cake. We had a lemon cake with a cheesecake filler. Oh. My. Goodness. It was divine! I had the chance to do a wedding cake tasting with A Slice Above Cake Shop, and even though the shop isn’t officially open yet, I have to say this was hands down the best vanilla cake I’ve ever had! Everything was made completely from scratch, and you can truly taste the quality and love that goes into it. The flavor was out of this world, and the texture was so fresh and perfect.
