If i could give 3.5 stars I would! I want to be fair and say that I really enjoyed the food and would most likely return to eat here again.
My husband and I booked a dinner reservation a few weeks in advance because we are visiting from out of town for our wedding anniversary and wanted to have our dinners planned and booked in advance. Tonight when we arrived, it was a pretty quiet and slow evening because it was Tuesday night, and I think that unfortunately is actually what led to most of the weird atmosphere of the evening.
From the time we arrived the waitresses seemed a little confused almost as to why we'd even booked a reservation when it was so slow. We were seated at a table in a small room with what seemed like the rest of the parties in the restaurant that time. We understand seating everyone in one area when it's slow, but the table we were given was right directly between two major walkways and positioned very closely to two other tables, to the point where we felt like we had to speak very quietly so as not to essentially have a conversation with the other tables, and it seemed like unfortunately every other table in the room that had people just so happened to directly be positioned towards us to where it almost felt like we were on display the entire time. Maybe just a gentle suggestion to move that table a bit!
When our waiter arrived he was friendly but after we didn't order any drinks (I got a soda) and we weren't 100% sure yet if we wanted to order an appetizer, he seemed almost annoyed and then disappeared for quite a while. It took 25 minutes for us to even receive the free bread, which is not something I would normally even keep track of or complain about, but we were just confused because every other table was receiving bread and we were waiting quite a while to place our order, including for our appetizer.
I will say the following: once we did put in our order, the food arrived swiftly and was delicious. We had the garlic bread appetizer (great marinara sauce), i had the Italian Wedding Tortellini, and my husband had the baked chicken Alfredo. I definitely recommend the Tortellini dish! Every element of it was incredible and it was one of the best broths I've ever had. My husband was also very happy with his Alfredo for the portion size and price!
Overall unfortunately there was just a very tense feeling atmosphere the entire time we were in there, and our waiter didn't seem to care too much for us. I do understand that if we had informed them that we were here as part of our wedding anniversary celebration that we would probably have been differently attended to, but we don't even really expect or ask for over the top service! I only felt compelled to leave a review because while the food was great, it was one of the most awkward and uncomfortable atmospheric experiences I've ever had at a restaurant, and i know and can tell the owners do care about their business (which is a compliment!)
The only other note I want to leave is that I personally found the prices to be all around pretty reasonable, but i do think $5.50 is pretty pricy for just a regular soft drink, especially when I'm pretty sure the soft drink price was not on the menu (I...
Read moreMy family and I came here after our reservation was seemingly lost at Citrola's during CMU's Parents' weekend. We called to try to make a reservation, but they weren't taking any more for the night, and the man said we could come in and wait for around 45 minutes for a table. We did just that, and although we were starving, it wasn't their fault. After 45 minutes of waiting, we went to our table and the greeter said that a server would be right with us. About 10 minutes later, he came with glasses of water and took our entire order. It took another 15-20 minutes for all of our drinks to come out, none of which were great, but drinkable. After another 10 minutes, we finally got our appetizer, cheesy pizza garlic bread. It was good, perhaps on the simple side, but we were happy to finally be eating something by 9:00 PM. Another 20 minutes passed and we got our salads. They were good, but on the small side. I especially liked the blue cheese dressing, I would say it was the highlight of our experience. The server promised us bread 'soon' but said that it was still baking. We all sat quite hungry still, waiting for our entree. It was about 9:40 that they finally came. My fettuccine Alfredo was quite good, but alike all of the dishes, on the small side. My mother's pesto dish was quite bad, and overly oily. The pesto was a bit of an off-putting brown, instead of its regular green color. My fathers dish was edible, but not great. At the end of our meal, (9:50 PM) the bread came out, and it was laughably bad. It was cut poorly into 4 tiny pieces, and the entire loaf was about the size of my fist. It was overcooked, and taste as if someone spilled far too much rosemary into it. Really, really bad. Ending the night, we used the restroom, which was out of toilet paper, and got the bill- roughly $115 for 3 people (after tip), highly overpriced for the experience we had . The server apologized to us, and thanked us for our patience. We left feeling like we would have been better off at Olive Garden, which is not much of a standard. I understand that this was a very busy night, but that experience was pathetic. Would consider returning, if there were no other options,...

In response to owner:
We definitely understood it was graduation weekend and called a few restaurants to see the possibilities of getting a table. Most restaurants said they were only accepting parties 4 or less. When we called we were told we could be seated together and you were able to accommodate a party our size 15 ppl. We have a large family and try to make it easy so we get it. Upon getting there again we knew there was a wait no biggie there it's to be expected. However a similar size party walks in after we have been waiting 30 mins didn't have a reservation because my sister asked the hostess and they were seated. Ok things happen its busy. Once we were seated we were seated in several different tables across the restaurant, then began to interact with several waiters to be told we will be with you asap. This went on for 3 hours. We barely got drinks and bread and only 2 of our party received food. At the end of the evening we had had enough being as we had children that needed to eat and it was close to 9 p.m. we decided to leave. We spoke with a manager who informed us the only tables that were recieving priority were the tables for graduations. They said if we ordered they would box our food and we could take it to go. After 3 hrs of waiting we declined. Hope this explains the poor rating. We did make attempts prior to arriving to make sure we were ok...
