We arrived at 9:00am on a Sunday morning and were sat right away. However it took our server almost 8 minutes just to say hello and bring us our water after another server stopped by to ask if we had been served yet. Our server only dropped off our waters and came back a few minutes later to take our order. We placed it and waited. As we waited, another table next to us was sat and got their drinks. We stopped Our server after 15 minutes to ask if our drinks were coming and she brought them right over, apologizing. She didn’t seem very flustered at all though, like she was simply taking her time.
About 5 minutes after that we got our food. I got a fall special, a pork belly benny while my sister got a different fall special, the pumpkin pancakes. One of my eggs was hard boiled while the other one was perfectly cooked but I still enjoyed the food overall. My sister enjoyed her pancakes and made the comment they were massive!
Our server asked if we wanted boxes and after she left the box took another minute to ask how we wanted the check.
Throughout our visit, the other waiter who checked on us before our server kept looking over at our table and all the other tables with other servers seemed like they were getting the prompt service I read so much about in other reviews. I don’t think our server is a bad person, she was very sweet and friendly but just lacked any urgency you would hope for in this type of setting.
Some friends had commented to me prior they want to come here for brunch with us sometime. I do look forward to visiting again to see if this experience was a fluke or truly what I can expect going forward. I will update this review with that other visit should it happen!

Read moreMy husband and I decided to try the Grand Rapids Brunch house as we have dined at the Muskegon location multiple times, we were expecting the same vibes however we were deeply disappointed not only with customer service, the food was mediocre, and the expresso martini was off. We placed ourselves on the wait list, and was given an estimation of 45 minutes, we arrived to the restaurant and checked in, we then waited for 50 minutes at which time, I approached the host to see how much longer we had to wait. I was told by the host that we had 9 customers in front of us, which I found to be unbelievable, but since we had waited 50 minutes already and we might experience a wait at another restaurant so we waited, we noticed that the restaurant had slowed down and it appeared that the host was seating customers who came after us, we waited another 10 to 15 minutes and approached a different host, and was told that she was checking to see whether ther were any empty tables and of course there were quite a few empty tables, we were finally seated, however by that time we had decided that we would dine there that day but we will never return. I am not sure if the host failed to check us in, and or whether it was another reason why were ignored, either way it left us with a disappointed view of the restaurant and the fact that the food and drinks were mediocre did not help. Knowing reservations weren't accepted, I joined the waitlist through the app around 9:00–10:00 AM and was given an estimated seating time of 1:30 PM. With a five-hour drive ahead of me and a set schedule to maintain, I called before that time to confirm and even informed staff I would be approximately 10 minutes late, which I was told would be no issue. Upon arrival, however, I was informed we’d need to wait an additional 45 minutes to an hour—this ultimately turned into a two-hour delay. I respectfully shared my frustrations with the front desk, especially since our section still wasn't ready or clean after all that time. I understand that it was Mother’s Day and the restaurant was busy, but the lack of accurate wait time communication and preparation made the experience frustrating. I do want to thank the staff at the bar who allowed me to order a drink while waiting—I truly appreciated their kindness and flexibility. Once seated, our waitress, Kaylee, provided excellent service and truly made the best out of a difficult situation.
