Big Apple Bagels — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

I went in Big Apple bagel on Lake Michigan Drive how rude!!!* I went with a Uber eats order for bagels and three sodas. The girl working in the front was getting the bagels and asked the girl from the back to get the drinks. I asked for a tray for the drinks and the girl working the front told me they didn’t have any trays and the girl working in the back said I’ll get you a tray, then the girl from the front starts yelling at the girl from the back telling her that the owner is not going to appreciate the fact that she’s using a tray which is meant to be taken out of the store to the customer. Isn’t your customers as well as my customer and Uber‘s customer all the same? the girl from the front said to the girl from the back that the drivers can get their own cupholders for their drinks that big Apple bagel does not need to supply them. I feel as though three drinks requires a cupholder the car I drive has two cupholders, but that still does not give me room for the 3rd cup. Also I asked for a bag and she yelled to me. Unfortunately, I was looking very much forward to eating here but everything that could have went wrong did. Starting with the cashier not understanding that I wanted cream cheese instead of hummus and it seemed by the third time of me straightening it out to her she was irritated. My card wouldn’t work and I repeatedly told them it was my chip thinking we can bypass trying to figure out why it wasn’t working. After several times of trying I asked them if they could punch it in by hand and I swear if she could have said no she would have.Then a customer in front of me wanted to go and one of the lady’s was so disgruntled that she yelled to the customer that “there’s only two of us here u know!” I was blown back by this. After waiting about 10-15 minutes for the sandwich I still got handed an entirely different sandwich. This place could use different employees and I guarantee changes would be for the better! Every customer in the store was very patient and understanding.I’v worked in very high pace places and u can’t get flustered and turn on...

I enjoyed coming here as a patron. Good bagels and sandwiches. And usually friendly service. But I think I won't be coming back as explained below.

This morning though I visited here as a delivery driver twice. The first time the usual friendly service. The second time the same lady looked a little stressed looked at me and said "You people need to check in down there.". I replied there's no reason to be rude about it I didn't know.

Firstly I don't appreciate being referred to as you people. I'm a human being doing my job same as you are not someone beneath you. And secondly there are 2 counters and no signs, or restaurant instructions or indication which to go to. The first counter has a sign telling delivery drivers they don't have drink carriers for us people so naturally driver's probably think they check in there.

All in all a restaurant is about food AND 5service. If the food is good but the staff make you feel unwelcome I can find another restaurant...
