We chose this place for a Mother’s Day meal. First time ever visiting . It will be our last. We chose to sit outdoors. We don’t live in the area or we probably would’ve had better luck receiving our food order hot and fresh if we’d ordered it to go! We waited almost an hour for our food. Over 45 minutes. When it arrived absolutely NONE of the four people in our party received food that was even slightly warm!

The chicken strips were cold, the fries were cold, the bbq chicken both orders , were cold I’m talking like refrigerator cold, Mac n cheese was solid dry and cold! The Brussel Sprout salad appeared to be a pre ready bag salad it had literally 4 paper thin Granny Smith sliver slices in it and teeny tiny sweet potato pieces and a couple pieces of Parmesan! It wasn’t a good salad. The Avacado lime dressing had zero flavor. I can honestly say it was the worst salad I’ve ever been served. The manager definitely needs more management training on how to conduct himself with customers! Asking the customers what they want to rectify an issue with food is unprofessional. The young man never apologized! He offered to remake some of our food. We chose against that option. The reason being , we didn’t want to wait another hour to get our dinner!

We spoke to a young man we were told was the manager. He never apologized!

He kept repeating “ what do you want me to do?” “ Tell me what you want me to do?” We all felt as though he was in a rush to just brush us off. Our bill would’ve been about $70.00 for cold , dry, food! We told the manager we’d like our bill reduced. The manager took two meals off our bill our final was $45.00! None of the food that was ordered was worth that $45.00!

So if you’re not able to order your food to go you’re possibly going to have a horribly long wait and experience cold food as our family unfortunately did today. We waited exceptionally long to finally get our bill as well. Unfortunately we can’t give a review on their food because it sat so long prior to us finally receiving it…it wasn’t even a little bit warm or fresh! I told the waitress our orders must’ve sat way too long. She admitted it had. She apologized. The manager did not apologize at all! Moral of this story if you have a lot of free time to wait extra long for not fresh, cold food this is the restaurant for you!

If not ONLY GET TAKE OUT FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!Such a unpleasant occurrence to taint a Mother’s...

As much as I wanted to love this place, I unfortunately left, not only disappointed, but frustrated with how the entire experience made me feel uncomfortable. We arrived during lunchtime and decided to sit at the bar. It was not busy at all. We were greeted with a friendly smiling face, given menus and water. It took a few minutes for him to come back and ask us if we wanted anything. My friend and I both ordered old fashioned smoothies. At that time a woman came up and asked us for our id’s. No biggie... the woman was inspecting my friends Id for an extended time, then looked at her with a foul face and told my friend that it was expired. It does not expire until April 2. After clearing that up, we got our drinks (which were great). We sat there for so long waiting to place our food order that I actually looked at my friend and asked her if we weren’t supposed to eat at the bar! We finally placed our order, received it in a timely manor, and it was delicious! Never once did they ask us how it was, or if we needed anything else. The woman simply came and delivered our bill while we were still eating. At that point I decided it was a good time to inform her that we wanted another drink. As we sat there enjoying our afternoon indulging in good food, drinks, and conversation, the man and the woman sat on the other side of the bar looking at us as if we were the biggest inconvenience of the year! The gentleman was kind, but not in a “welcome to Hancock, let me make this a great experience for you” kind of way. The woman was not kind, nor welcoming at all! It was only when we were leaving that we were met with a genuine smile from a completely different gentleman. Thank you! I worked in the industry for many years, and don’t believe my expectations are unreasonable. I am a huge supporter of local businesses, but unfortunately, I don’t see myself visiting Hancock for quite some time. I honestly hope that this will encourage these people to make a few changes to improve the service they are...

Recently had the most absurd interaction with the manager that I’ve had with anyone in my life. I tried reaching out to them directly, but never got a response so here I am. This is long so I’ll try to make it short. Arrived on a Friday around dinner with 5 other friends. Sat outside and ordered one drink each. Stayed outside for about 20 minutes. Got cold so moved inside. Ordered food inside, and finished our first drink that we started drinking outside. Once that was gone, we placed an order for a second drink while we continued waiting for food. 2 of us got the second drink, the others hadn’t yet. At this point we’ve been inside for about 30 minutes (about 60 minutes between outside and in). Manager walks up and asks the whole table who’s driving us home. We look at her puzzled because, again, we’ve only had the one drink so far. We ask what she’s talking about. She says, well you’ve been here a long time so none of you should be driving home. ?????? Excuse me? No one was even remotely intoxicated (several of us still hadn’t even received the second drink yet btw). When we explained that to her, she says accusingly, well we don’t know what you’ve been doing before you got here. First of all, that’s none of her business. Secondly, none of us had been anywhere but home prior. Thirdly, if she had looked at our tab before approaching us, she would have seen that we were only there for about an hour and we each had only consumed 1 drink. She argued with us for 10 minutes at the table about this. Who does that??? We are all in our late 30’s, early 40’s with children, and professionals. We aren’t a group of wild frat boys. There are now 6 different people that will never go back to that place because of that interaction. Hancock, PLEASE pull up that tape and prove this review wrong for everyone reading it.

Admittedly, food and drinks were good. Still...

I only have one complaint about this place - why do they only have literally one beer choice? And it is cans of Stroh's? :( Otherwise, what an adorable little spot! I absolutely love the "front yard" with the grass and picnic tables. It is like having a little backyard get together with your friends. Hancock has the largest selection of sparkling wine in the City, but I am not sure why that is necessary. Sparkling wine doesnt seem to go well with casual fried chicken and southern sides in my opinion. They also have a small variety of adult slushies with different spirits in them. I got the Millions of Peaches one made with whiskey, and my friend got the John Daly - both were delicious (heads up, they show up in a small glass). I love the setup of this place - although initially they were an "order at the counter" type of place, they have now switched over to regular table service which is much nicer in my opinion. There is a ton of space between inside and outside seating. It could be a little crowded once it is not warm enough to sit outside though. I ordered the restaurant favorite Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and it was amazing. Their "regular to hottest scale" is really skewed toward the hot side, but they do allow you to order regular and then get a side of house made hot sauce to be able to control it better if you need that. I ordered my sandwich hot, and it was pretty spicy - I could have definitely bumped it up to hotter. I would definitely recommend this sandwich. My friend ordered the half order of fried chicken which is 4 pieces (but he ended up with an extra piece) with a side of waffle fries. The chicken was really good flavor wise and regarding juiciness, but could have used more time in the fryer. The outside was a little pale and not crunchy enough for our liking. The fries were seasoned and amazing!

Visited Hancock on 3/5/23. Read good reviews online so I wanted to check this place out. My wife and I ordered the 4 piece fried chicken meal with 2 sides and a Sprite & Coke. The service was top notch. The waiter did a great job. First problem I had was the water he brought had no ice, and the glass smelled like eggs. I didn't finish the water. No on-site parking was available, but there is a parking lot across the street that charges you $9 for 2 hours. The food took 30 minutes to arrive after we ordered. And when it arrived it looked outstanding. But I found out quickly that the chicken is EXTREMELY greasy. Orange liquid dripping greasy. The taste of the chicken was good. And spicy. And the amount you get was good. Just way too greasy. Also, I like wings and legs. You can't substitute any pieces, and there is no ala carte or wings/leg meal on the menu. No flexibility. You get what they serve. The sides I ordered were the coleslaw and "Yukon" mashed potatoes. They were hardly warm. And the taste was average. Nothing special. Overall I left disappointed. My check was $49. Left a $9 tip, and parking was $9. Spent $67 for 2 people for extremely greasy chicken and average tasting sides. The service was great, but the food was not impressive at all.

Where do I even begin? Walking into Hancock was a very welcoming experience. I love that as soon as you enter you're faced with a sign that tells you whether to wait to be seated or to seat yourself. I hate going places and being confused and stared at awkwardly not knowing what to do! Throughout my time there, everyone was so quick to the door to make sure guests were greeted and seated super fast. So great! After we were seated we checked out the menu and the waiter was SO great at explaining different options and spice levels on the menu. He really made our experience! The jalapeño cornbread was hands down the best cornbread I've ever had. We each got a fried chicken sandwich which FAR from disappointed! I actually took my bun off because the chicken itself carried so much flavor it didn't need anything accompanying it. My boyfriend got the hotter chicken sandwich and absolutely loved it. The fries here are THE BOMB. Best fries I have ever had! The house lemonade was perfect... great sour taste! I could go on and on about my amazing experience here. Best lunch I've had in a very long time. I highly recommend Hancock to anyone and everyone. If you're thinking of going- do it. You won't regret it.
