Very Dissatisfied…So How I even ended up here I live in NORTH MUSKEGON and Me & my 4yr old son woke up early to head to GRAND RAPIDS to assist family in moving…on the way rather eating & driving in the car I looked up food places near me and this one happened to be six minutes away from where we were at so it made the most sense… 2nd: I always read reviews before I go somewhere and by reviews I read the “lowest” reviews to really see what Id might run into 3rd “FOOD”: Just my opinion however As I always go to STEAK N EGGER (EXCELLENT FOOD). and came here I definitely regret not stopping there BEFORE my drive to grand rapids the food here tasted so BLAND spongey eggs, they looked very “mcdonalds style” like (if that makes sense) my son took 1 bite of his eggs and never bit them again he enjoyed his pancakes though… My food on the other hand oh boy the omelette again tasted bland with a slap of cheese on it rather it having some CHEDDAR cheese oozing on it nope just a slap of some meijer white cheese idk….3/5 omelete… However MY PANCAKES were disgusting! Im a pancake guy I havent sent pancakes back sense BOB EVANS 4yrs ago! So trust me YUCK im not sure If they are Not cleaning the table that they cook the pancakes on but i tasted (Peppermints?, Light spices, Some other weird flavor) other than BUTTERMILK PANCAKES so i told my waitress those were nasty and to please take them back..she asked if i wanted new ones i declined as it kilt my appetite with how bad it was we then wrapped up quickly left no tip and left! (I got only bills back no change lol whatever she kept some money all cool) 4th SERVICE: my waitress (forgot her name) definitely did not want to be there lol she had a disguised happy/annoyed face the whole time and every encounter was VERY AWKWARD as a human you can sense things… 5th ATMOSPHERE: Now see the atmosphere i give 6 out of 5 everyone seemed happy! Great people! Music was the PERFECT volume not to loud or to quiet & everyone was conversating having a good time! Would I ever go back? NO despite the great atmosphere theres better options thank you for reading overall id give a 2/5

Hands down the best brunch I have had in a couple years! My wife and I recently moved back to Grand Rapids so we have been trying to visit a new restaurant each week. This week we went to brunch at Lucy’s on a Saturday! The restaurant has a unique vibe. It feels like a small down breakfast join because the staff feels tight knit like a family, but it also feels like a chain breakfast spot because of the sheer size of the restaurant! Not a bad thing at all, just an observation! The place was packed at 11am so we waited a little extra time for our wait staff. To start my wife ordered a mock tail, I ordered coffee, and we tried the deviled eggs. The pickled onions were a great touch, not sure what the ingredients are for the pickling, but they adding a little sweetness to the eggs! For the meal my wife was excited to order the Caprese Omelette. It was super light and airy with amazing flavor. Made you think of summer in every bite! I ordered the Spicy Hash. Wow, it was good! Good amount of spice and great flavor. The pickled onions seemed to give it some sweetness while the potatoes, egg, and chorizo gave it the salty flair! It was a heavy dish and kept me full for several hours! Now let me talk about the biscuits! These things were homemade and absolutely delicious! They were super dense and delightful! Paired with their homemade jelly and a cup of coffee, it was lights out!! Great experience! So great that I cannot wait to go back, maybe, hopefully this weekend! Try it!!

Ever been in a place that thinks it’s “all that” when in reality it’s just scraping the bottom of “average”?

This is one of those places.

The kind of place that puts the froo in “froufrou.”

And enjoys it.

I’d never been here before and wasn’t expecting such a breakfast-heavy menu. So I mentioned to the waitress that I might just mosey down the street to find something different.

You’d think I’d insulted her mother.

“We’re ranked the 12th best brunch in the country,” she huffed.

OK. Fine with me. Though one would think number 12 in the country would get more than 4.6 stars on Google reviews.

So I ordered the Reuben. With a side salad.

“I’m trying to stay low carbs,” I said. “So can I get that with one piece of bread.”

“Yep. No problem. Side salad?”

“Great.”

The food came in a few minutes, and things went farther downhill.

An open face Reuben. Two pieces of bread.

Burned bread. Like, black crust burned.

Salad looked good. And it would’ve been, maybe, if it hadn’t been drenched in what tasted like a vinaigrette straight out of the bottle.

And speaking of dressing, was that really Russian dressing on the Reuben? Because it definitely could’ve been Thousand Island.

Sadly, I left half the salad. I hate wasting food.

I also hate trying to have a meal in a restaurant where your water glass gets down to empty, as mine did here.

I asked huffy waitress for a refill, somehow triggering her.

She snapped something, filled the glass and plopped it, huffily, back on the table.

Wow.

I dine out a lot, and this was about the worst dining experience I’ve had anywhere in a...

I’ve visited this place multiple times over some two or three years of visits to Grand Rapids. I want to like it because they have good food and decent coffee, but the service has always been somewhat hit and miss. This time I was getting take out. Our family had a funeral so people preferred to stay in and eat breakfast at home. I had looked at a menu online which apparently was out of date and old; that’s totally my bad. So when I went to order at the counter the girl there informed me they no longer had that dish but simply stopped there and looked at me. I had not been given a menu or anything. So I asked for a menu and she handed it to me. I guess I was expecting to receive a menu as soon as I said I needed to order take out and I was hoping for her to maybe offer a similar alternative item on the menu or try to help a little(?). She just seemed rushed to get me out of the counter. Then I realized that a local had been waiting behind me. Her attitude totally changed with him, she was like “hey what’s up… “ and lots of chit chat followed. So my question to the owner is: Is your staff only serving the nice treatment to the locals they know? I see other reviews where other people had similar less than perfect service experience, and in past visits I’ve certainly seen that some “known” people get the red carpet treatment while others are treated like they are making them a favor. Is this a local clique? That would be a shame, because otherwise the place has a nice atmosphere, the dishes are good and the coffee is good too. But the local clique...
