Creston Market — Local services in Grand Rapids

The owner of the store accused my oldest son of being a thief because he hadn't been in the store for a couple of months. My son collects bottles and cans from around the neighborhood to earn spending money that he can use to buy snacks and to pay for his cellphone each month. Since the Creston market doesn't want dirty bottles and cans to be returned there, and I don't want the dirty bottles and cans in my house, he doesn't have the option to use our hose to clean them before returning them. My son received $5 for Christmas and wanted to buy something at the store. The owner kicked him out for no reason. Meanwhile, my stepson who also hadn't been in the store for several months was welcomed with open arms. My son has dark hair and a darker complection, while my stepson is incredibly white with blonde hair. You do the math. Needless to say, nobody from my household will be returning to this store. Good selection of foods and beverages, but they sure do sell a lot of expired foods. I thought my Keebler cookies tasted a little off, and they had been expired by almost a year! They probably put most of their effort into the alcohol side of the business, which I can understand since this is America and Americans only use corner shops for booze and cigs rather than food, but having any product that expired by almost a year is pretty bad. Used to have a really good craft beer selection, however I've not been here in years and it seems maybe new owners have changed the product selection. Now it is basically just your average corner store, loaded with expired junk food and just a small selection of craft beer. Wine selection still looks decent and they have a nice variety of liquor, but what made this store stand out years ago was their amazing variety of craft beers.
