M & M Bakery & Banquet Hall — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

I got married 6 years ago and had chosen someone to make my wedding cake...well 2 weeks before the wedding they backed out!! YIKES!! My mom found M & M in the phone book and stopped by to check it out. She fell in love, so she brought me a sample and with the very first bite I was hooked! Being that I was married in May and this was only 2 weeks before the wedding I was amazed when I was told they would make my cake and have it delivered on what was their busiest Saturday of the month. The cake was wonderful (and the topper was pretty good on our first anniversary too) there was one small hiccup...I ordered strawberry filling but it came with raspberry (so says my mom...I never noticed but that may have been b/c I was having too much fun). And last year when I was pregnant and approaching my baby shower I told my mom that I only wanted a cake from M & M....this time everything was PERFECT! They have the BEST buttercream frosting hands down!!! I can't wait to have cake from them in a few weeks for my daughters...

The owner is very rude, disrespectful and does not know how to run a business. She does not know how to graciously accept criticism nor is she willing to work to make her customers happy. I have lost a few customers because I do not go to M&M bakery for my cakes when I put on an event, but I am so much happier using another bakery. I hope that others will read this review and avoid M&M bakery! If not, be prepared for a cake that doesn't meet your specifications, and beware if you speak up about it. I an so disappointed that I wasted my money, the owner is a terrible person when it comes to interacting with customers. I had 4 separate cake orders messed up (missing filling, wrong frosting type. clearly the wrong colors' etc) and when I complained or tried to get a discount on the cake I was treated like dirt, and actually yelled at by the owner for speaking up about the error. I truly don't understand how they are still...

Very disappointed in the cake and cupcakes I received for my daughters graduation. I gave pictures a month ago when they asked what I wanted it to look like. Cake looked like nothing I showed them. The name of her school wasn’t on it and that was the only reason for the colors I asked. Only a cheap plastic topper that cost 25 cents. I just couldn’t believe the price for what they gave. Never again will I go there.

Just a simple I’m sorry we messed up would have been nice but instead you try and say I was difficult. Nothing was difficult about it. You took 10 pictures and a page of notes. I just wish I would have got a picture of the cake before you took away and tried to fix it 2x. Sad thing is I spoke with you on the phone the day before to confirm the order and you asked me a question about the order and still messed it up. Take ownership for...
