Iron Bell Coffee Parlor — Restaurant in Grand Rivers

Look- I want to support local and the place is beautiful, but as a marketing professional and experienced barista- I do have some areas of issue. I’ve been 5 separate times with each averaging $18 per visit (before tip).

1. Coffee experience and knowledge here could definitely use some improvement. I’m not saying they are the worst, but 3/5 times the espresso shots have been dead leaving a bitter latte or the drink was made wildly different. Consistency and quality is key to success.

2. Customer service varies greatly depending on who is behind the counter. Usually pleasant, but greeting four previous people before me with a smile and warm welcome & then obviously changing tones when I order and receive my coffee leaves a bitter taste in anyone’s mouth. And this was the owner, so I’m not blaming the baristas on this one.

3. Not everyone wants a ton of sweetener in their drink or can’t have that much sugar, so acting bewildered or confused when “lightly sweet please” is mentioned is just odd and honestly a simple task to achieve.

It’s more expensive than any of the other coffee shops around, which would be understandable due to being niche and located in a small tourist town. But- if you’re charging more, you should either receive better service or better quality coffee, of which, is not happening on average.

Like I said, I’ve given it more tries than I would most places because it’s local and I wanted to give it a chance. And I feel like 3 stars is fair if not generous. I hope they can improve and achieve success- but it will be a while before I return or...

This may be the coolest coffee shop I’ve ever been to. Stepping inside this shop feels like you’re entering into someone’s mansion. The atmosphere was quietly welcoming and you can’t help but sit down on their couch and thoughtfully sip on your coffee. The staff couldn’t be nicer as they recommended beverage types, sizes, and even explained what some of their seasonal options were (I am not a coffee professional). I can’t wait...

This little shop has the best atmosphere. Moody vibes while being chic and inviting. Service still needs a little work; new person at desk that didn't know the menu or coffee at all and the person that did didn't offer to come help from his seat until requested, so it took quiet some time to even get our order in.
