Arrived on a Friday evening with a party of 5. Instead of the Buffet, we choose to order from the menu. The restaurant was not busy. Food was brought quickly, however it was "luke-warm" at best. The waitress came when the meal was 1/2 over to inquire about the food. When she was told that the meals were not warm, she offered to take them back and microwave them. I personally do not like my fish microwaved. When we declined the remedy, she walked away. The peach cobbler was also not good. Clearly the peaches were not fresh and had not be cooked long enough as they were "crunchy." Finally, at the end of the evening the bill was presented to be paid and the person paying, registered her concerns with the meals. She was told that nothing could be done, speak with the waitress. The waitress was sought and she said, "I offered to microwave the meals." There was no manager on site and no one could provide a remedy. The cashier was approached and directed to call the manager which she declined. "You have a card, call the manager in the morning." The bill was paid, and a 20% tip was left at the table. It will be a while before I will return to the restaurant. Very disappointed in the food...

Update about 5 hours later I woke up at 1am with the urgent need for the rest room and spent about an hour and a half switching between of a mix of diarrhea and vomiting. Between the price and the eventual outcome I would suggest you eat somewhere else.

(Og review before getting violently ill) I had the Saturday buffet the food was decent a bit pricey but what isn't. The chicken was excellent but the pot roast which they called roast beef was a bit bland with some of the gravy it wasn't too bad.

Now a small tangent I visited pretty late it was about 7:25 or so and they close at 8 I traveling a lot for work I eat a lot of fast food so I was just looking for something different not trying to beat the buffet or anything. So when I get there I politely ask the hostess if it's to late to for the buffet she says no and I am seated. I had a nice plate of food had a smaller second helping of the chicken and mashed potatoes and checked out at 7:50 not wanting to overstay. The hostess looks at me and asks "what did you do inhale it?". I was lost for words was I expected to try and stay until the last possible minute stuffing my face? Just thought that...

Come for the artisan village, but don't bother eating at Penn Alps. It's not often I'd rather eat at a Waffle House, but this would be one of those times. I'm really not sure how this place received so many good reviews.

Everything tasted either stale, unseasoned, under/over-cooked, or just plain odd. My fiance and I passed our time trying to identify what exactly was in each dish. I dread to think what effect this dinner will have on me later tonight.

At $13 a plate for the buffet, you might think, as we did, that it's worth trying out. Do yourself a favor and toss that notion aside. I could have paid $7 a plate and still considered it a ripoff.

I was amused at the advertisement on the table announcing a local upcoming event in June 2014. Seriously, 2014?!?! You haven't changed your table ads for a year and a half?

And classier still was the sign asking patrons to take only as much food as they could eat in order to reduce costs. I'm sure the food patrons leave behind is due more to finding it inedible than their stomachs being full.

I have more to write, but this stuff is already working its way through my...

Have passed this on many occasions and have finally had the opportunity to stop in here - not only once, but twice over a two day period. The food and service were excellent. We had to come back. For lunch I had the cheeseburger. It was made with fresh ground beef, and it was delicious. Also had a side of coleslaw, which was fantastic. Homemade chips were crunchy and hit the spot. It was so good. I had it the second time I came again. I also had the blackberry cobbler, which was excellent! Also great pricing on the menu. Great service from Rebecca and the rest of the team working here. We brought a large group of nine people on the second time and they quickly and easily accommodated us. Food was out quickly, and it was hot and delicious. There is also a gift shop in the lobby, but I did not go there. Several people in the group went inside and said it was fun to walk around. Give yourself extra time as you will want to walk around in the Spruce Forest Artisan Village. These artisans are really talented. So stop by have a great meal, great service and do a little shopping to support your artisans.

About 20 minutes from Deep Creek and 45 Minutes from the Flight 93 Memorial is this homey restaurant and craft shop. It is located next to an Artists' Village, History Musuem House, historic bridge and park. We stopped in for Friday's Fish day and it was wonderful. The price was very reasonable for the amount and variety of food on the menu. Two of the girls and Dad loved the fried fish and shrimp. 1 of the girls enjoyed the ham and Mom enjoyed the fried chicken. 2nds of mashed potatoes were had by all kids. Salad bar was stocked with the perfect salad ingredients for all. The kids loved choosing different scoops of ice-cream. The peach cobbler and oatmeal pie were a tie for dad's favorite and Mom was very impressed with the chocolate cake. The staff members are friendly too. Just across the parking lot there was a cute little village and artisits making and selling their wares. In the restaurant we saw fliers about craft activities for kids in the village. Behind the village we found a historic bridge and park. This is definitely a great way to spend the day with the family.
