My husband and I went in for breakfast and it was not very busy. We were seated quickly and our server brought waters and coffee, but then our experience went downhill from there.
I ordered a simple meal of meat and eggs. My order consisted of poached eggs, bacon, and marble rye toast. My husband ordered the Farmer’s Breakfast (I think that’s what it is called) and got scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and buckwheat pancakes.
We sat and chatted and I finished my coffee and set cup on side of table for a refill. After awhile I checked my watch and it had been almost 30 minutes since we ordered. I knew the food wouldn’t be good when it was served.
The waitress finally brought our food and gave me a refill on coffee and water but did not refill my husbands (his was 3/4 empty. The plates were lukewarm at best. My husbands eggs were cold and flavorless, the sausage was decent, and his buckwheat pancakes, had they been served hot, would have been good. I pierced my poached eggs only to find they were hard in center, as if they were cooked and sat under a heat lamp.
Our waitress didn’t return to the table, even though I set the plate on the side, obviously alerting her to an issue. My husband ate his breakfast, more out of hunger than good food. When waitress finally returned I told her I didn’t want a new plate of food, I wanted it removed...
Read moreI've gotta take the time to write a review since I discovered this gem a few weeks ago. I travel to WV several times a year and like to take the northern route back home which takes me through Garrett County, MD. The roast beef here is fantastic with their obviously homemade gravy! The bread and apple butter before the meal is such a treat, and man do these people know what they are doing with baked goods. The service is excellent and the food comes out quickly, even on my most recent visit on a busy Saturday. The host even noticed I was dining by myself and said she had a table for one available while everyone else ahead of me was a group of 4 or 6. That level of caring about details is what makes a restaurant run smoothly. I appreciate The Casselman and all the staff and I cannot...
Read moreBeen going to here for many years. We probably won’t return because the quality of the meals have dropped. Last meal ordered the chopped steak with mushrooms onions and cheese on a bun. Dry, burnt, and very small in size for $11. Had a salad and it was a bit wilted. Runny dressing. It came out the same time as my sandwich. Sitting there for a while would have been nice to eat prior. My wife had chicken and it tasted almost like my chopped steak. The great part is the bread served. We both decided not to return because of over the course of time, it’s not consistent and taste went downhill. Honestly, McDonalds would have been better. The experience has definitely taking a turn down. The worst part was there were only 2 other customers seated and waited to be seated 10+ minutes. Not...
