my wife and i have heard about the wheelhouse restaurant for years but seldome drove up highway 65 very often so it wasn’t on our radar when we went to conway for a good meal, this past friday we decided that we were going to make a special trip to have lunch at the wagonwheel in greenbrier. boy were we surprised! my wife judges a restaurant by their fhicken fried steak, she said that the wagonwheel’s was one of thebestshehas ever had, her sides were pinto beans, greens and mashed potatoes, the steak was fork tender and delicious, as were the sides, our server recommeded the fried mushrooms as a starter, they were the best we have had, and we are both kind of mushroom snobbs, the servicing size was big enough to have as an entrae, i had the cat fish plate, 4 large fillets, with slaw, fies and hush puppies, i don’t like onions, so the hush puppies went to my wife, she gave them2 thumbs up, the catfish was well seasoned and perfectly fried, the highlight was the green tomatoe relish that came with them, the servings were large and every thing was piping hot, which to us was a real treat, our experience has been, that at a busy restaurant, and the wheelhouse was very husy, i don’t rememner our server, she was outstanding, she hadseveral tables and treated all of her customers like they were family , my wife got a piece of coconut pie to go, we were too full for desert, she praused the quality of the filling hut didnot like the topping. the price was very reasonable, consudering the quality of the food, and the potion size. the wagon wheel is now a preferred stop, when we decide to go to conway for a good meal, we live in russellville, arkansas, where dining options are limited, mainly fast food, takethe drive to greenbrier and give the wagon wheel restaurant a try, home style cooking at its best, i think you ...
Read moreThis is a great place if you like country style, homemade food. And I do love country style cooking. My wife called and asked them to save her a biscuit with chocolate gravy for lunch. They were more than happy to accommodate her which was great because she had never tried chocolate gravy before today. She loved it and I give it a nine out of 10, OK, 10 out of 10. They have some of the best fried catfish fillets that I have ever tasted, their turnip greens are wonderful, and their slaw and hush puppies rank at the top. My wife had chicken fingers (really planks) that she gave a 5, slaw (10), fried okra (7), French fries (7), and a roll that both of us give a 10. The hush puppies get a nine. Need I say we could not eat all of this? We brought home quite a bit. Unfortunately we were too full to even think about a dessert. The service was as good as it gets by friendly, helpful people. The prices are low in my opinion. All of this food, tax, soft drinks, and a healthy tip came to only $30. Remember...
Read moreWe normally come here on Saturday morning for breakfast. Due to a seat yourself lay out, you never know who your waitress may be. When we are luck, we get Danni (sp?) She is always the sweetest, and always provides out standing service! Thank you Danni! However, there are times we are not so lucky. When this happens, we get a waitress (Sue) who does not greet you, as she comes to the table. Spends more time looking at who is coming in the door, than listening to your order. Not to mention, once the order was delivered we never saw her again. Now, because I personally have been a server, I ALWAYS tip very, very well! I have been known to leave a 50% tip, at this restaurant. This did not happen today! I can forgive that every time I order fried hard, broken yoke eggs, they still come out a little on the raw side. What I refuse to for give, is an inconsiderate, non attentive, have better things to do, waitress. I can say most of the time our service is awesome, and peppered a...
