Gem's Alehouse & Woodfired Kitchen — Restaurant in Greencastle

Give them a couple of months and I’m sure they’ll iron everything out. It took an hour and a half to get the drinks we ordered. They kept bringing drinks and food to our table, asking who ordered what, when we hadn’t even put in food orders yet. Our checks were wrong. The “silverware” is one rolled black plastic fork and one silver plastic knife 😂 and we had to ask for silverware. We reserved a table for our friend’s birthday and our server was aware… for whatever reason, he got his food last. I feel bad leaving a negative review because I could tell there was no good management. The servers / bartender were all trying their best with what appeared to be little to no training. It was sad to watch them all try so hard with no solid structure. I did attend on a Friday night so I’m aware that it was already hectic. But my experience left me wondering if and why they rushed to open...

This place is great. This place used to be B-sides Pints and Pies. They rebranded and it's now called Gems Alehouse & Woodfired Kitchen. I'm not a drinker but they have decent taps and an interesting drink menu. My wife and I tried the hog wings with the Chipotle sauce and the burger basket. Then we ordered the jalapeno bacon hot honey open-faced castle melt. Everything came out very hot and was tasty but the pizza could have used more hot honey on it. So don't be afraid to ask for extra. Our waitress was very nice and checked on us fairly often. She was very friendly and made helpful suggestions. Sadly she didn't give her name though. Lots of menu options and things I want to try. Excited to go back. Good...

We finally got over to Gem's Ale House & Woodfired Kitchen for lunch. What an underrated spot in Greencastle! The atmosphere is super laid back and welcoming, and our server was so friendly.

Everything we ordered was phenomenal, way better than you’d expect for a small-town bar. (Even my son finished his entire meal and he NEVER finishes his food 😅).

It doesn’t get nearly enough credit—definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area. One of those places you go to once and instantly want to come back! I’m already planning my order for...
